Tommy Berden
Tommy Berden (born 22 April 1979) is a retired former Dutch male professional squash player and an entrepreneur. He achieved his highest career ranking of 22 on December, 2001. Career Tommy Berden was crowned as the European Junior Squash champion in 1998 before becoming a renowned professional squash player. He has won eight PSA World Tour titles in his career including PSA World Tour title wins came in 2001 at the Australian Open, Kuala Lumpur Open Squash Championships and Motor City Open which led to improve his record career singles ranking of 22 in the same year. Tommy Berden retired from playing in professional squash tournaments in late 2006 at the age of 27 due to undergoing surgeries in his playing hand (right-handed) to repair snapped tendons and decided to take part in event management of PSA World Tours. Natalie Grinham
Natalie Marie Grinham (born 16 March 1978 in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian professional squash player. During her career, she has won three Commonwealth Games Gold Medals, and finished runner-up at both the World Open and the British Open. She reached the World No. 2 ranking in 2007. She represented Australia in international squash competitions up to 2006. She is married to the Dutch squash player Tommy Berden, and took up Dutch citizenship in February 2008. Both Tommy and Natalie became the first husband and wife team to win a joint championship in squash after winning the respective trophies at the inaugural edition of the Tranzparanz Open in June 2006 which was held in Almere, Netherlands. Motor City Open (squash)
The Motor City Open is an annual international squash championship held in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The tournament is hosted and organized by the Birmingham Athletic Club, a private club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and has been held each year since 1999, with the exception of 2008, when the event was moved from November to the following January. The Motor City Open is usually scheduled immediately to follow the Tournament of Champions held in New York City. The tournament takes place over six days. The first two days consist of a qualifying competition, where 16 competitors compete for four places in the main draw. After the qualification rounds, the four qualifiers join the 12 exempt players in the main draw. The Women's Squash Association (WSA) was the governing body for the women's professional squash circuit between 2011 and 2014. It was based in London, England. The body operated in a similar fashion to the WTA for tennis. The WSA World Tour involved over 100 tournaments annually all over the globe. Over 250 players were registered with the WSA and rankings were updated monthly based on players' performances. In November 2014, the WSA and the PSA announced a historic merger between the two associations.
