Tomma is an island in the municipality of Nesna in Nordland county, Norway. The island sits to the west of the islands of Handnesøya and Hugla. The island is at the southern entrance to the Sjona fjord. The main settlement on this island is the village of Husby, where the old Husby Estate and the Husby Chapel are located. Name The Old Norse form of the name was ''Þǫmb''. This name is probably identical with the word ''þǫmb'' which means " paunch" or "belly". Nordland (; smj, Nordlánnda, sma, Nordlaante, sme, Nordlánda, en, Northland) is a county in Norway in the Northern Norway region, the least populous of all 11 counties, bordering Troms og Finnmark in the north, Trøndelag in the south, Norrbotten County in Sweden to the east, Västerbotten County to the south-east, and the Atlantic Ocean ( Norwegian Sea) to the west. Handnesøya is an island in the municipality of Nesna in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies between the islands of Tomma and Hugla and the mainland, along the Sjona fjord. Husby Estate
The Husby Estate (Norwegian: ''Husbygodset'') is an estate in Helgeland, Norway. It is based in the village of Husby on the southwestern part of the island of Tomma in the municipality of Nesna. History Christensen family Anders Christensen the younger (1751–1821), a shipper and a tradesman, and otherwise a great-great-grandson of the noblewoman Margrete Jonsdotter Benkestok, started in 1806 buying properties in Lurøy. He bought altogether twelve parts of the farms Grønningen, Kvitvær, Lunderøy, Måsvær, Sandvær, Sengstrag, Sør-Nesøy, and Trolløy. In 1819 he bought a part of Husby Farm, which until then had been a part of the Dønnes Estate. After Christensen's death his widow Anna Catharine née Bernhoft continued buying properties. In 1825 she bought altogether nine parts of farms in the districts Meløy, Rødøy, and Lurøy. Husby Chapel
Husby Chapel ( no, Husby kapell) is a chapel of the Church of Norway in Nesna Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Husby on the southern shore of the island of Tomma. It is an annex chapel in the Nesna parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden chapel was built in a long church style in 1905 as a private farm chapel for the Husby Estate. The chapel seats about 60 people. It was consecrated on 2 June 1905 as part of the Dønnes parish and had 4 worship services each year. It was transferred to Nesna parish in 1962, and since 2005, it has six regularly scheduled worship services each year in addition to special events such as weddings or funerals.
