Tom Towns
Tom Towns (March 17, 1953) was a star linebacker for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. Towns played his university football with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. In 1972 he was on the starting lineup in the Vanier Cup Championship team. In 1973 he played on offense and defense for the Golden Bears, and was named as a Canada West All Star in 1973 and 1974. He was also selected to the All Canadian CIAU Team. He began a ten-year career with the Eskimos on 1975. During this time, he was paired with Danny Kepley Daniel "Danny" Kepley (born August 24, 1953) is a former star linebacker for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. Rosetown, Saskatchewan
Rosetown is a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, at the junction of provincial Highway 7 and Highway 4, approximately 115 km southwest of Saskatoon. The town's motto, "The Heart of the Wheat Belt" reflects its history of being a farming community. A referendum was held in 2001, spearheaded by resident Teneal Crossman, to change the motto to “The Heart of the Meat Belt” to reflect the booming beef industry. The motto remained unchanged in a landslide vote supporting the original motto and Crossman soon left town. It is the largest town located in the ''Rural Municipality St. Andrew's 287, Saskatchewan''. The Vanier Cup (french: Coupe Vanier) is the championship of Canadian university football. It is organized by U Sports football and is currently played between the winners of the Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell Bowl. It is named after Georges Vanier, the former governor general of Canada and was first awarded in 1965 to the winner of an invitational event contested between two teams that were selected by a panel. In 1967, the trophy was declared the official "CIAU National Football Championship" and a playoff system was instituted. From its creation until 1982, it was known as the Canadian College Bowl. The game typically occurs in late November, although it is occasionally played in December.
