Tom Scioli
Thomas Scioli is an American comic book artist and writer best known for working in a style similar to Jack Kirby. Biography Scioli was born in Philadelphia and moved to Pittsburgh after studying at the University of Pittsburgh in the 1990s. Gødland
''Gødland'' is an American comic book ongoing series, series by Joe Casey and Tom Scioli, set in the Image Universe and published by Image Comics from 2005 in comics, 2005 to 2012 in comics, 2012. Publication history The series was conceived as both a homage to and a revival of the so-called "Cosmic Superhero Epic" as told by many great comic writers of the 1970s like Steve Engelhart, Jim Starlin and Jack Kirby. The style of the series is strongly inspired by Kirby's style in his ''Eternals (comics), Eternals'' and ''Jack Kirby's Fourth World, The Fourth World'' series. While obviously strongly inspired by this series, Casey and Scioli add their own twist on the stories with a little humor. A comic book convention or comic-con is an event with a primary focus on comic books and comic book culture, in which comic book fans gather to meet creators, experts, and each other. Commonly, comic conventions are multi-day events hosted at convention centers, hotels, or college campuses. Ten Speed Press
Ten Speed Press is a publishing house founded in Berkeley, California in 1971 by Phil Wood. Ten Speed Press was bought by Random House in February 2009 and is now part of their Crown Publishing Group division. History Wood worked with Barnes & Noble in 1962, Penguin Books in 1965, and had a senior sales position at Penguin Books in Baltimore and New York before founding Ten Speed Press. Wood died of cancer in December 2010. Ten Speed's first book was ''Anybody’s Bike Book'', which is still in print. It inspired the publisher's name and has sold more than a million copies. ''Teddy and the Yeti'' is an American comic book series created by Jeff McClelland and Duane Readhead. Published by Wagon Wheel Comics, the serialized story features a robot and a yeti who defend Earth from external threats. The first issue of the ongoing series was released on December 30, 2009 as part of Indy Comic Book Week. The concept of the book was developed because McClelland liked the rhyming title. The multi-title project, edited by Erik Larsen, creator of Savage Dragon, features comic book characters that have fallen into the public domain.
