Thomas Savage (bishop)
Thomas Savage (1449 in Rocksavage, Clifton, Cheshire – 3 September 1507, in Cawood Castle, Cawood, Yorkshire) was a prelate, diplomat and scholar during the Tudor period. Savage served as Clerk of the Closet, Chaplain to Henry VII of England, King Henry VII and was Archbishop of York from 1501 until his death in 1507. Prior to his consecration as a Bishop, Savage served as a diplomat and rector (Savage continued to carry out diplomatic duties whilst he was a Bishop). As a diplomat Savage held the positions of English Ambassador to Castile and Portugal, during which time he helped broker the marriage treaty between Arthur, Prince of Wales and Catherine of Aragon in 1489, and later held the position of English Ambassador to France from 1490, where he took part in the conference at Boulogne. Thomas Joseph Savage was an Anglican bishop in the third quarter of the 20th century. Born on 5 February 1900, and educated at Highgate and Peterhouse, he was ordained in 1927. Following a curacy at ''St John’s, Waterloo Road'' he worked at the ''South African Church Railway Mission'' and was then a Toc H padre. After a spell as rector of Springs, Transvaal he was vicar of Leominster then ''Tait Missioner'' for the Diocese of Canterbury. Tom Savage (born 1948 in New York City) is an American poet most closely associated with the New York School. He attended the Naropa Institute in 1976 and with James Sherry co-edited the inaugural issue of Roof Magazine. He is the author of upwards of seven volumes of poetry, including; "Housing, Preservation & Development" (Cheap Review Press 1988), "Processed Words" (Coffeehouse Press, 1990), "Political Conditions Physical States" (United Artists Books 1993) and "From Herat to Baikh and Back Again" (Fly by Night Press 2014). Tom Savage (1940/41 – 30 March 2017) was a director of The Communications Clinic. Early years Tom Savage entered Maynooth in 1959 earning degrees in divinity and arts, before further studies at QUB. After graduating from Queens in 1968, he became Director of Social Welfare in the Archdiocese of Armagh, a post he held until 1972. Also in 1972, William Cardinal Conway appointed him to the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA). During the Troubles, he was the priest sent by Cardinal Conway to welcome the British troops – then seen as peacekeepers – into Northern Ireland. In 1972, he was seconded to the Catholic Communications Institute at the request of Bunny Carr, the then Director of the Catholic Communications Centre in Booterstown, Dublin, where he became a lecturer. Thomas Benjamin Savage (born April 26, 1990) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Rutgers, Arizona, and Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Houston Texans in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Early life Savage was born in Springfield, Pennsylvania on April 26, 1990, to Linda and Tom Savage. He has an older brother named Bryan who played quarterback at Wisconsin and Hofstra. At Cardinal O'Hara High School, Savage was a member of the Lions football team for four years and started at quarterback for three. He threw for 1,355 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. Thomas Savage (–1611) of Rufford, Lancashire, was a member of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and one of the ten seacoal-meters in London. Together with William Leveson, he was one of two trustees used by the original shareholders of the Globe Theatre in the allocation of their shares in 1599. He was an associate of the actor and editor of the First Folio, John Heminges, and of John Jackson, both of whom were Shakespeare's trustees in the purchase of the Blackfriars Gatehouse. Savage amassed a considerable fortune, at the time of his death owning five houses in London and an inn called the George.
