Tom Sankey
Thomas P. Sankey (July 28, 1933 - August 26, 2010) was an American folk singer, playwright and actor known for the 1967 off Broadway production '' The Golden Screw''. In 1962, Sankey contributed to the folksongs in Jonas Mekas's film of Allen Ginsberg, '' Guns of the Trees''. '' The Golden Screw'' was a folk rock musical documenting the progress of folk singer, Bob Dylan Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. The Golden Screw
''The Golden Screw'' was an Off-Off-Broadway folk rock musical written and performed by Tom Sankey which premiered at the Theatre Genesis in September 1966. It ran again from January 30, 1967 to March 5, 1967 at the Provincetown Playhouse in Greenwich Village. The show's cast album was the first rock theatrical recording of its kind. The play follows a Bob Dylanesque singer figure from folk music roots to commercialization. A subsequent production was mounted at Toronto's Global Village Theatre in 1972. Jonas Mekas
Jonas Mekas (; December 24, 1922 – January 23, 2019) was a Lithuanian-American filmmaker, poet, and artist who has been called "the godfather of American avant-garde cinema". Mekas' work has been exhibited in museums and at festivals worldwide. Mekas was active in New York City, where he co-founded Anthology Film Archives, The Film-Makers’ Cooperative, and the journal '' Film Culture''. He was also the first film critic for ''The Village Voice''. Allen Ginsberg
Irwin Allen Ginsberg (; June 3, 1926 – April 5, 1997) was an American poet and writer. As a student at Columbia University in the 1940s, he began friendships with William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac, forming the core of the Beat Generation. He vigorously opposed militarism, economic materialism, and sexual repression, and he embodied various aspects of this counterculture with his views on drugs, sex, multiculturalism, hostility to bureaucracy, and openness to Eastern religions. Ginsberg is best known for his poem "Howl", in which he denounced what he saw as the destructive forces of capitalism and conformity in the United States. ''Guns of the Trees'' is a 1962 American black-and-white film by Jonas Mekas. It follows two young couples – Barbara and Gregory (Frances Stillman and Adolfas Mekas) and Argus and Ben (Argus Spear Juillard and Ben Carruthers).
