Thomas Eugene Regner (April 19, 1944 – November 13, 2014) was a professional American football player who played guard for six seasons for the Houston Oilers and was an All-American offensive lineman for the University of Notre Dame. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. William Alexander Curry (born October 21, 1942) is a retired American football coach and former player. Most recently, Curry was the head coach at Georgia State University, which began competing in college football in 2010. Previously, Curry served as the head football coach at the Georgia Institute of Technology (1980–1986), the University of Alabama (1987–1989), and the University of Kentucky (1990–1996). Between coaching jobs at Kentucky and Georgia State, Curry was a football analyst for ESPN. William Henry Olds (born February 21, 1951) is an American former professional football player who was a running back for four seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and was selected by the Baltimore Colts in the third round of the 1973 NFL draft with the 61st overall pick. He played in the NFL for the Colts, Seattle Seahawks, and Philadelphia Eagles. Nebraska Cornhuskers Olds graduated from high school in 1969 and played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers under head coach Bob Devaney, with future head coach Tom Osborne as offensive coordinator.
