Tom Reed (judoka)
Thomas David Reed (born 29 January 1986) is a British judoka. Judo career He began his training at Devizes judo club before joining Team Bath's High-Performance Training Programme in 2003, aged 16. In 2006, following a gap year, in which he trained at Tokai University in Japan, he began a degree in Business Administration at the University of Bath. The same year, coached by Jurgan Klinger, he won bronze in the European under 23 Judo Championships in Moscow. He followed this up in 2007 with a silver at the European under 23 Judo Championships in Salzburg and became champion of Great Britain, winning the half-middleweight division at the British Judo Championships. Following his uncle in becoming a GB judo player, in the following years, Reed placed or medalled in numerous international tournaments and European Cup events, including winning gold medals in the English, Welsh and Scottish opens, a gold in the Swedish open and a silver medal in the London European Cup (British Open) ... Devizes
Devizes is a market town and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. It developed around Devizes Castle, an 11th-century Norman architecture, Norman castle, and received a charter in 1141. The castle was besieged during the Anarchy, a 12th-century civil war between Stephen of England and Empress Matilda, and again during the English Civil War when the Cavaliers lifted the siege at the Battle of Roundway Down. Devizes remained under Royalist control until 1645, when Oliver Cromwell attacked and forced the Royalists to surrender. The castle was Slighting, destroyed in 1648 on the orders of Parliament, and today little remains of it. From the 16th century Devizes became known for its textiles, and by the early 18th century it held the largest corn market in the West Country, constructing the Corn Exchange in 1857. British Judo Championships
The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Until 2013, the Championships were held under the title of either the British Closed Championships or the British Senior Trials. In 2013, the British Closed Championships/Senior Trials were merged with the all-age British Championships. The 2020 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Owen Livesey (born 3 August 1991) is a British judoka, submission wrestler, and mixed martial artist. He notably competed in judo at an international level for Great Britain and England and won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the Men's 81kg judo. He also competes in submission grappling and wrestling tournaments across Europe. Personal history Owen Livesey was born on 3 August 1991 in St Helens, Merseyside. Livesey has two sisters, named Bekky Livesey and Amy Livesey, both of whom participate in judo and have both won British championships at half-middleweight.
