Tom Nohilly
Tom Nohilly (born April 27, 1967) is a retired track athlete who disciplined in various middle-distance and long-distance events. He represented the United States in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics and the men's short race at the 1999 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Nohilly was particularly prolific in the 3000-meter steeplechase, for which he made two appearances at the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials. Running career High school Nohilly attended Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in East Elmhurst, Queens, where he graduated in 1984. He broke school records in the indoor and outdoor mile, indoor and outdoor 2 mile, outdoor 3 mile, outdoor 5000 meters, distance medley relay, steeplechase, as well as in various cross country distances. Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height. Distance Medley Relay
The distance medley relay (DMR) is an athletic event in which four athletes compete as part of a relay. With its inclusion in the IAAF World Relays program, the IAAF announced on May 1, 2015 that the event would be an official world record event. Unlike most track relays, each member of the team runs a different distance. A distance medley relay is made up of a 1200-meter leg (three laps on a standard 400 meter track), a 400-meter leg (one lap), an 800-meter leg (two laps), and a 1600-meter leg (four laps) in that order. The total distance run is 4000 meters, or nearly 2.5 miles. Aside from the 400 meter segment, which is a sprint, all legs are a middle distance run. Prior to going metric, the distance medley relay consisted of a 440-yard leg, an 880-yard leg, a 1320-yard leg and a one-mile leg. The Fort Washington Avenue Armory, also known as the Fort Washington Armory, The Armory, and the 22nd Regiment Armory, is a historic 5,000-seat arena and armory building located at 216 Fort Washington Avenue, between West 168th and 169th Streets, in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Marc Davis (athlete)
Marc Davis (born December 17, 1969, in Oceanside, California) is a retired American track and field athlete, who mainly competed in distance races like the men's 3000 metres steeplechase and 5000 metres. His personal bests include running 3:54.30 for the mile, 8:14.26 in the steeplechase and 8:12.74 for 2 Miles. Davis first gained fame while running for San Diego High School (the same alma mater as American distance star Meb Keflezighi), winning the 1986 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships - which at the time was the only high school national championship contested - on his home course before a national TV audience. Davis went on to run for the University of Arizona, winning the 1992 3000m Steeple Chase NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
