Thomas Nash (baptised 20 June 1593 – died 4 April 1647) was the first husband of William Shakespeare's granddaughter Elizabeth Barnard. He lived most of his life in Stratford-upon-Avon, and was the dominant male figure amongst Shakespeare's senior family line after the death of Dr. John Hall, Shakespeare's son-in-law, in 1635. Early life Nash was baptised at the parish church of the Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon and entered in the register as "Thomas filius Anthonij Nash generosi", i.e. "Thomas, son of Anthony Nash gentleman". His mother's maiden name was Mary Baugh and she came from Twyning, near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. His father Anthony, a friend of Shakespeare and farmer of his tithes, was born in Old Stratford. Nash entered Lincoln's Inn, one of the four Inns of Court in London, on 15 May 1616 at the age of 22. Captain Thomas Walter Nash (25 November 1891 – 23 October 1918) was a British World War I flying ace credited with eight aerial victories. Biography Nash was born in Acton, Middlesex, the son of Thomas Walter Nash, a confectioner, and Iris Amy Nash. He entered the Royal Naval Air Service as a temporary probationary flight officer, and following flight training was commissioned as a temporary flight sub-lieutenant on 15 February 1918. He was posted to No. 4 (Naval) Squadron, which following the merging of the Royal Naval Air Service and the Army's Royal Flying Corps on 1 April 1918 became No. 204 Squadron, Royal Air Force. Flying a Sopwith Camel, Nash gained his first aerial victory on 22 July 1918, destroying a Rumpler C reconnaissance aircraft south of Ypres, and on 31 July he destroyed a Pfalz D.III over Roeselare. Thomas Nash (Newfoundland)
Thomas Nash (1730 – 1810) was an Irish Catholic fisherman who founded Branch, Newfoundland and Labrador. Settling in Calvert Nash was born in Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland, and emigrated to Calvert, Newfoundland and Labrador, formerly known as Capelin Bay, around 1765. He was a planter and lived in an area of Calvert known as the Point and referred to as "Nashes Plantation". Local lore says that Thomas and his sons built a boat over the winter of 1765. Wintering over was not permitted in Newfoundland at that time however when discovered by the fishing admiral the following spring, instead of being punished, Thomas was given a grant of land for the entire shoreline of Calvert. Having sons of an age to assist in building a boat in 1765 would mean that Thomas must have been at least 35 years of age. Thomas Hawkes Nash III (born November 13, 1945) is an American lichenologist. His research is about the biology and ecology of lichens, and the effects of air pollution on plants and lichens. He is known as an authority on the family Parmeliaceae. During his long career at the Arizona State University, he helped develop the lichen herbarium into a world-class collection with over 100,000 specimens representing more than 5000 species. In 2010, the year of his retirement, he was awarded the Acharius Medal for lifetime achievements in lichenology, and the following year had a ''Festschrift'' published in his honor. Thomas Nashe (baptised November 1567 – c. 1601; also Nash) was an Elizabethan playwright, poet, satirist and a significant pamphleteer. He is known for his novel ''The Unfortunate Traveller'', his pamphlets including ''Pierce Penniless,'' and his numerous defences of the Church of England.
