Thomas Montgomery (American Politician)
Thomas Montgomery (1779 – April 2, 1828) was a U.S. Representative from Kentucky. Born in what is now Nelson County, Virginia, Montgomery received a thorough English training. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Stanford, Kentucky. He served as judge of the circuit court of Lincoln County. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1811. Montgomery was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Thirteenth Congress (March 4, 1813 – March 3, 1815). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Fourteenth Congress. Montgomery was again elected to the Sixteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Tunstall Quarles. He was reelected to the Seventeenth Congress and served from August 1, 1820, to March 3, 1823. He served as chairman of the Committee on Public Expenditures (Seventeenth Congress). Thomas Harrison Montgomery (February 27, 1830 – April 4, 1905) was an American businessman and writer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was best known for his genealogical and historical writings and his presidency of the American Fire Insurance Company, which he held for over 20 years until his death. Early life Thomas Harrison Montgomery was born in Philadelphia on February 27, 1830, the second son of reverend James Montgomery, D.D. and Mary Harrison White, and was baptized at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where his father was then rector, April 7, 1830, by his great-grandfather, Bishop William White. Sub-Inspector Thomas Hartley Montgomery (1842 – 26 August 1873, Omagh, Ireland) was a senior official of the Royal Irish Constabulary. He is the only police officer in Irish history to receive the death penalty for murder. Newtownstewart Murder On 29 June 1871, Sub-Inspector Montgomery, who was chronically short of funds, assaulted William Glass, a clerk employed by the Northern Bank, with a hedge knife and stabbed him through the head with a filing spike. Sub-Inspector Montgomery then stole £1,600 from the till. In the aftermath, Inspector Montgomery took charge of the investigation and briefly succeeded in deflecting suspicion from himself. However, Montgomery's subordinates ultimately learned of his financial difficulties and eyewitnesses identified him as having left the bank one hour before the body of William Glass was discovered. Thomas Lynch Montgomery (March 4, 1862 – October 1, 1929) was an American historian and librarian of the Pennsylvania State Library, Harrisburg. Thomas Lynch Montgomery was born in the Germantown area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 4, 1862, the son of Oswald Crathorne and Catherine Gertrude (Lynch) Montgomery. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1884, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. His entire life's career was devoted to library work and the preservation of historical and antiquarian memorabilia and records. In 1886, he became actuary and librarian of the Wagner Free Institute of Science. He was founder of the Pennsylvania Library Club in 1890. Plot Thomas Montgomery (screen name: marinesniper), a 47-year-old married man, pleaded guilty to murdering his 22-year-old co-worker Brian Barrett (screen name: beefcake).
