Tom Mehrmann
Thomas Mehrmann ( zh, 苗樂文) is the current general manager of Universal Studios Beijing. Ocean Park Mehrmann was formerly Chief Executive Officer at Ocean Park, Hong Kong for 12 years. He joined Ocean Park, Hong Kong as its CEO in February 2004, when he was recommended by then new chairman Allan Zeman immediately after being interviewed. Under Mehrmann's leadership, Ocean Park won the Applause Award in 2012. The biggest scheme under his helm was the HK$5.55 billion Master Redevelopment Plan which he started working on right after he took up the job. Endorsed by the government in October 2005 and completed in 2012, it added facilities including the "Ocean Express" connecting the Summit and Waterfront, and the Aqua City aquarium. Universal Studios Beijing () is a Universal theme park in Beijing that opened on September 20, 2021 as part of Universal Beijing Resort. Invited-only test operation started on September 1, 2021. The park would become the fifth Universal Studios-branded theme park in the world, the seventh Universal-built park overall, and the third in Asia, after Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore. However, it would also be the first Universal-built park in Asia to not include ''Sesame Street'' as one of its licensed properties. The project was announced on October 13, 2014 with the plan to invest 20 billion Renminbi, RMB (US$3.3 billion) into the new theme park; a groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 31, 2016. Ocean Park, Hong Kong
Ocean Park Hong Kong, commonly known as Ocean Park, is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park situated in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan in the Southern District of Hong Kong. It is the second largest theme park in Hong Kong, after Hong Kong Disneyland, as well as the largest theme park in Hong Kong by area. It is also the second oldest theme park in Hong Kong, after the now-defunct Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park which closed on 31 March 1997, four months before the 1997 handover. Opened on 10 January 1977, Ocean Park became popular, but 28 years later, it was unprofitable and widely expected to close due to the new Hong Kong Disneyland. Allan Zeman GBM, GBS, JP (Chinese name: 盛智文; born 18 July 1949) is a Hong Kong business magnate. Background and personal life Allan Zeman was born into a Jewish family in Regensburg, Germany; and was raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where his mother worked in a hospital. When Zeman was seven years old, his father died. He started working at the age of ten. Applause Award
The Applause Award is an international award given out by Liseberg, a theme park in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is given out every two years to the amusement park whose "management, operations and creative accomplishments have inspired the industry with their foresight, originality and sound business development." The award is a bronze statue of two clapping hands. It was designed by Astri Bergman Taube, a Swedish sculptor. The winner is chosen by a board of governors with Liseberg's CEO, Andreas Andersen, being the chairman. It is considered by many to be the Academy Award of the amusement park industry.
