Thomas Townley Macan (born 14 November 1946) was Governor of the British Virgin Islands, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the British Virgin Islands, an British overseas territory, overseas territory of the United Kingdom in the Caribbean Sea, from 14 October 2004 to 10 April 2006. He was educated at Shrewsbury School and the University of Sussex. On the advice of the British government, he was appointed by Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II to represent the Queen in the territory and to act as the ''de facto'' head of state. Shrewsbury School
Shrewsbury School is a public school (English independent boarding school for pupils aged 13 –18) in Shrewsbury. Founded in 1552 by Edward VI by Royal Charter, it was originally a boarding school for boys; girls have been admitted into the Sixth Form since 2008 and the school has been co-educational since 2015.
