Thomas Lancelot Lewis (23 January 1922 – 25 April 2016) was a New South Wales politician, Premier of New South Wales and minister in the cabinets of Robert Askin, Sir Robert Askin and Eric Willis, Sir Eric Willis. He became Premier following Askin's retirement from politics and held the position until he was replaced by Willis in a party vote. Lewis was first elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Wollondilly for the Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), Liberal Party in 1957, and served until his resignation in 1978. Early life He was born in Adelaide, the son of Lancelot Ashley and Gretta Lewis, and was educated at St Peter's College, Adelaide, from 1931 to 1940. Tom Lewis (chef)
Tom Lewis is a Scottish chef at the Monachyle Mhor Hotel in Perthshire. He started his career as a chef in 1995, inspired by well-known chef Nico Ladenis, whom he heard enthusing about food on Desert Island Discs, and David Wilson of the Peat Inn. By the end of 1996, the Monachyle Mhor Hotel had won its first AA Rosette, which has been renewed every year since. Subsequent awards for the chef and hotel restaurant include the Booker Prize Industry Award in 2003, and an Egon Ronay Guide Award in 2005. Thomas Anthony Lewis, OAM (born 1958) is an Australian author, popular military historian, public speaker, and former naval officer. An author since 1989, Lewis worked as a high school teacher, and served as naval officer for 20 years, seeing active service in Baghdad during the Iraq war, and working in East Timor. In June 2003, Lewis was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for meritorious service to the Royal Australian Navy, particularly in the promotion of Australian naval history. Career After reconstituting the Royal Australian Naval College Historical Collection, with which his Order of Australia is largely connected, Lewis was the Director of the Darwin Military Museum from 2009 until April 2014, when he took up full-time research on several World War I and II projects. Thomas Loftus Townshend Lewis CBE (27 May 1918 – 9 April 2004) was an internationally renowned English obstetrician / gynecologist who served on the council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as secretary (1961–1968) and later as senior vice president (1975–1978). He was the author of three books on obstetrics/ gynecology, one of which is considered a classic text on the topic: ''Progress in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology.'' Lewis was appointed as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1979. Lewis was born in Hampstead, North London. Thomas F. Lewis (October 26, 1924 – August 1, 2003) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Florida. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lewis attended the St. Edwards School and graduated from Central High School in 1942. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a gunner aboard a B-25 bomber, and continued service in the U.S. Air Force on the ground in the Korean War, being discharged at the rank of master sergeant in 1954. Lewis attended Palm Beach Junior College, and graduated from the University of Florida with a business degree in 1959. For 17 years, he was an executive with the aircraft company Pratt & Whitney, followed by work in real estate investment. Tom Lewis (7 June 1904–31 May 1994) was a Welsh international number 8 who played club rugby for Cardiff and was capped three times for Wales. Lewis began his rugby career with his local team Pentyrch before being selected to play for first class team Cardiff. He played all his international games whilst with Cardiff and in the 1932/33 season he also captained his club team. International rugby career Lewis was first selected to play for Wales in the 1926 Five Nations Championship when he faced England at the Cardiff Arms Park on the 16 January. Tom (Thomas John) Lewis (born 1943) is a British singer and writer of nautical songs. His most famous song, "The Last Shanty (A Sailor Ain't A Sailor)," has been recorded by over 30 different groups around the world. Biography Lewis was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in Gloucester, England. He served in the Royal Navy from 1959 until 1983, mostly in the (diesel) Submarine Service. He developed his interest in sea shanty, sea shanties while frequenting the Howff Folk Song Club of Dunfermline, Scotland, in the 1960s, and began to perform at clubs and festivals in his off-time. Tom Lewis (born 5 January 1991) is a professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. Amateur career In 2009, Lewis won the Boys Amateur Championship at Royal St George's. In 2010, he lost to Peter O'Malley in a playoff for the New South Wales Open, and then tied for 12th place at the Australian Open.
