Tom Kristenbrun is a Canadian restaurateur, entrepreneur and former professional football player. In 1972, Kristenbrun purchased the historic El Mocambo in downtown Toronto with business partner Michael Baird. Over the years, Kristenbrun owned and operated many restaurants and venues in Toronto including Bistro 990. The El Mocambo is a live music and entertainment venue in Toronto, Ontario. Located on Spadina Avenue, just south of College Street, the venue has played an important role in the development of popular music in Toronto since 1948. It is best known for the 1977 surprise show by The Rolling Stones, which became nationally notorious for the presence of then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's wife, Margaret Trudeau, who was partying with the Stones. Bistro 990 was a restaurant in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It closed on March 17, 2012. The bistro served Provençal style French cuisine in an informal atmosphere. Throughout its run the restaurant had been owned by Tom Kristenbrun. History Its chef at opening was Chris Klugman who was responsible for several notable Toronto restaurants.
