Thomas Kennedy (Scottish Judge)
Thomas Kennedy (1673 – 19 May 1754) was a Scottish lawyer from Dunure, Ayrshire, and a Tory politician. He sat in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1720 to 1721, and then became a judge of the Scottish Court of Exchequer. Early life and family He was the oldest son of Sir Thomas Kennedy of Kirkhill and Dunure (Lord Provost of Edinburgh from 1685 to 1687) and Agnes Halden. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh and at Utrecht University, and was admitted as an advocate in 1698. In 1714 he married Grizel Kynynmont, daughter of Patrick Kynynmont of Kynynmont, Fife, and widow of Sir Alexander Murray, 1st Baronet, of Melgund, Forfar. They had no children. Career Kennedy was joint Solicitor General for Scotland from 1709 to 1714, sharing the office with Sir James Stewart, 1st Baronet. Tom Kennedy ( 1948 – December 7, 2011) was an American film trailer producer, film director, voice-over artist, author, writer and film editor. Kennedy was raised in the Bronx, New York City, and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where he studied film. Kennedy worked as an editor for the PBS children's show, ''Big Blue Marble'', during his early career. In 1977, he moved from New York City to Los Angeles. He soon became a project director, editor and writer for became the Kaleidoscope Films, one of Hollywood's major creators of film trailers. Kennedy oversaw the audiovisual creative advertising for the clients of Kaleidoscope Film and worked on the advertising campaigns for numerous films during the late 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Thomas Kennedy (1784–1870 in London) was a luthier, best known for his cellos. Early work After a first apprenticeship by his father John, he further developed his skills with Thomas Powell, to whom he was apprenticed June 17, 1795. He started to work for the renowned William Forster (III) in 1802, and as soon as 1804 he became independent and established his workshop 16 Princes Street. Many of the most famous makers of his time worked for him, as for an example James Brown and later some of the best bow makers, including Thomas Tubbs, James Dodd and Edward Dodd. William Forster (IV) also made instruments for him starting in 1810, as did John Crowther later. Air Chief Marshal Sir Thomas Lawrie "Jock" Kennedy, (19 May 1928 – 18 November 2013) was a senior Royal Air Force officer. He served as Deputy Commander of RAF Strike Command from 1979 to 1981, and Air Member for Personnel from 1983 to 1986. Following his retirement from the military, he served as Lord Lieutenant of Rutland. Early life Kennedy was born on 19 May 1928 in Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland. Thomas Fortescue Kennedy (9 November 1774 – 15 May 1846) was an officer of the Royal Navy who served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Kennedy was born into a family with a history of military service, and entered the navy shortly before the outbreak of the French Revolutionary Wars. After some service on frigates during the various armament crises, in which Kennedy saw service on foreign stations, he was actively involved in the Siege of Toulon, and afterwards was promoted to lieutenant. Tom Kennedy (born July 29, 1996) is an American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He is also a former professional lacrosse player. He played college football at Bryant. College career Kennedy committed to play both football and lacrosse at Bryant University. Tom Kennedy (November 27, 1938 – March 15, 2006) was an American football quarterback. He played for the New York Giants in 1966. Pre-NFL career After playing high school football at Pasadena High School, and college football at Los Angeles State, Kennedy played quarterback for multiple minor league professional teams. These included the Wheeling Ironmen of the United Football League from 1962–63; the Providence Steamrollers of the ACFL in 1964; the Rhode Island Indians of the Continental Football League in 1965; and the Brooklyn Dodgers, also of the Continental Football League, in 1966. Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991.
