Tom Foley (Pennsylvania)
Thomas Patrick Foley (born December 31, 1953) has served as a Belfast peace and justice advocate, state and federal government official, political candidate, state NGO chief executive, and college president. He currently serves as president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as president of Mount Aloysius College, president of the United Way of Pennsylvania and CEO of the Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He was the Pennsylvania Secretary of Labor and Industry under Gov. Robert P. Casey, and served as a White House appointee in the Clinton administration Department of Labor. Prior to that he worked on Capitol Hill, in the US Senate as chief speech writer and legislative aide on Irish issues for Sen. Joseph R. Biden, in the US House as a legislative aide to Rep. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry is a cabinet-level agency in the Government of Pennsylvania. The agency is charged with the task of overseeing the health and safety of workers, enforcement of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, vocational rehabilitation for people with disabilities, and administration of unemployment benefits and Workers' compensation. When it was founded by Governor John Kinley Tener, John Price Jackson was appointed as the first Commissioner. Lieutenant Governor Of Pennsylvania
The lieutenant governor is a constitutional officer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The lieutenant governor is elected for a four-year term in the same year as the governor. Each party picks a candidate for lieutenant governor independently of the gubernatorial primary. The winners of the party primaries are then teamed together as a single ticket for the fall general election. Democrat John Fetterman is the incumbent lieutenant governor. The lieutenant governor presides in the Senate and is first in the line of succession to the governor; in the event the governor dies, resigns, or otherwise leaves office, the lieutenant governor becomes governor. The 1994 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 1994. The incumbent governor, Bob Casey, Sr. (Democrat), was barred from seeking a third term by the state constitution. The Republican Party nominated Congressman Tom Ridge, while the Democrats nominated Mark Singel, Casey's lieutenant governor. Ridge went on to win the race with 45% of the vote. Singel finished with 39%, and Constitution Party candidate Peg Luksik finished third, garnering 12% of the vote. Marjorie Margolies (; formerly Margolies-Mezvinsky; born June 21, 1942) is a fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Fels Institute of Government, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, and a women's rights activist. She is a former journalist and a Democratic politician. From 1993 to 1995, she was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district. Mark Stephen Singel (born September 12, 1953) is an American politician who served as the 27th lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1995, alongside Governor Bob Casey. Singel served as the state's acting governor from June 14, 1993 to December 13, 1993, during Casey's lengthy battle with amyloidosis and subsequent multiple organ transplant. Early life Singel was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Penn State University. Political career Singel was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1980.
