Thomas Cosgrove
Thomas Cosgrove (June 12, 1829 – March 27, 1912) was an Ireland, Irish soldier who received the Medal of Honor for valor during the American Civil War. Biography Cosgrove joined the Army from Stoughton, Massachusetts in August 1862, and mustered out with his regiment in June 1865. He received the Medal of Honor on November 7, 1896 for his actions at Drury's Bluff, Virginia on May 15, 1864. Medal of Honor citation Citation: Individually demanded and received the surrender of 7 armed Confederates concealed in a cellar, disarming and marching them in as prisoners of war. Tom Cosgrove (American Football)
Tom Cosgrove (1930 – March 28, 2017) was a National Football League (NFL) player for the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Colts. He played college football for the Maryland Terrapins at the University of Maryland. College career Cosgrove attended The University of Maryland where he played as a center under head coach Jim Tatum in 1951 and 1952. As a junior, in 1951, Cosgrove was named an honorable mention All-American. In 1952, Cosgrove was named a second-team All-American. He played in the 1952 Sugar Bowl at Tulane Stadium defeating Tennessee 28-13, 1953 North-South Shrine Game, the Senior Bowl, and the College All-Star Game.Cosgrove Named to Terps Hall of Fame
