Thomas Christie (1761–1796) was a Scottish radical political writer during the late 18th century. He was one of the two original founders of the important liberal journal, the ''Analytical Review''. Life Christie was born to Alexander Christie (brother of the Unitarian writer William Christie), a merchant in Montrose, Scotland in 1761. Christie attended a local grammar school and subsequently became a clerk in a bank. Deciding that he was more interested in literature and science, Christie studied medicine independently and then matriculated at the Westminster General Dispensary in London in 1784. At the same time, he began writing a series of articles on natural history for the ''Gentleman's Magazine'' and became friends with its editor, John Nichols. Although he attended the University of Edinburgh in 1785 and 1786 to earn his medical degree, he left the program to dedicate himself to a life of letters. Thomas Christie (physician)
Thomas Christie, (1772/3–1829) was a Scottish physician, notable for his work on the treatment of smallpox in Ceylon. Life Thomas Christie was born at Carnwath, Lanarkshire, in 1772 or 1773.Moore and Baigent 2004. After education in the University of Aberdeen, he entered the service of the East India Company as a surgeon to one of their regiments, and was sent to Trincomalee in 1797. He was made superintendent of military hospitals in 1800, and soon after head of the smallpox hospitals in Ceylon. The systematic introduction of vaccination into the island in 1802 and the general substitution of vaccination for inoculation were effected by Christie. He served in the Kandyan War of 1803, worked hard for several years at medical improvements in several parts of Ceylon, and returned from the East in February 1810, and immediately proceeded M.D. at Aberdeen.Moore 1887, p. 287. Thomas Christie (Canadian Politician)
Thomas Christie (March 8, 1834 – August 5, 1902) was a Scottish-born physician, professor and political figure in Quebec. He represented Argenteuil in the House of Commons of Canada from 1875 to 1880 and from 1891 to 1902 as a Liberal member. He was born in Glasgow, the son of John Christie and Elizabeth Nichol, and came to Lower Canada with his parents in 1827. Thomas Davidson Christie (21 January 1843 – 25 May 1921) was an Irish-American Civil War veteran, and a missionary and educator in the Ottoman Empire from 1877 to 1920. He was born in Sion Mills, County Tyrone, Ireland, the son of James and Eliza (Reid) Christie. He married Carmelite Sarah Brewer in 1872. His wife was related to David Josiah Brewer, Stephen Johnson Field (both US Supreme Court Justices) and David Dudley Field I. Thomas Hildred Christie (26 March 1927 – 11 October 2017) was a doctor and rower who represented Great Britain rowing at the 1948 Summer Olympics and twice won Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta. Biography Christie trained as a doctor at King's College, and was a member of Thames Rowing Club. In the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, he was a member of the coxless fours crew. In 1949 he won the Silver Goblets at Henley, partnering Tony Butcher. He also won the Wyfold in 1946 for King's College London, and the Grand and the Stewards in 1948 for Thames Rowing Club. Christie qualified as a doctor in 1950 and spent time at Westminster Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital training in anaesthetics. He won Silver Goblets at Henley again in 1952 representing Westminster Hospital and partnering H C I Baywater.
