Tom Brennan (speedway Rider)
Thomas Brennan (born 2 July 2001) is a British speedway rider. Career In 2016, Brennan made a number of guest appearances at reserve for Eastbourne Eagles after he turned 15 and was eligible to ride in the National League. He made his debut for Eastbourne on his 15th birthday against Birmingham Brummies, however he crashed in his first ride and suffered a broken collarbone. Brennan retained his spot for Eastbourne for the 2017 season. A good start to the season saw him move from reserve to number 1, before he moved to number 4 for the majority of the season. He scored his first paid maximum scoring 9+3 from 4 rides in the National League Knockout Cup Final against Mildenhall Fen Tigers. Brennan finished the season with an average of 7.21, making him the most improved rider in the National League in 2017, with an increase of 4.21 from his starting average of 3.00. Knockout Cup (sometimes referred to as the KO Cup) is a type of British motorcycle speedway competition, examples of which have run annually since 1929. Each tier of British Speedway has its own respective Knockout Cup. The current Knockout Cup competitions are the SGB Premiership Knockout Cup (tier one), the SGB Championship Knockout Cup (tier two) and the National League Knockout Cup (tier three). The cups have been run in the past under the associated name of the League at the time. SGB Championship 2023
The 2023 SGB Cab Direct Championship season will be the 76th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Championship. The British Speedway Network (BSN) would stream 35 matches live for the second year running. Summary Nine clubs will compete in the Championship in 2023, with Edinburgh Monarchs remaining in the league despite problems surrounding their home venue. The only change to the league is Leicester Lions, who left for the higher league of the SGB Premiership 2023. The league format will be the same as in 2022, with each team racing against each other twice (home and away), meaning a total of 16 fixtures each during the season. The points system has been revamped and simplified, with teams scoring two points for a win (home or away), with a bonus point scored for an aggregate win. The 2023 Sports Insure SGB Premiership is the 88th season of the top tier of British speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Premiership. There was an increase of one team after the Leicester Lions opted to move up from the SGB Championship. 2023 summary Seven clubs will compete for the league championship, with Leicester Lions joining the from the division below. Each club will race against each other four times (home and away twice), meaning a total of 24 fixtures each. The 'Super Heat' scoring system was retained from the 2022 season, however extra points for away fixtures have been scrapped in favour of an aggregate bonus point. The top four teams in the league will qualify for the playoffs, with the two semi-final winners then reaching the Grand Final. The points limit remains 39 points for six riders, with one additional 'rising star'. 2022 SGP2
The 2022 SGP2 series was the 46th edition of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Individual Speedway Junior World Championship, Individual Under-21 World Championship. It was staged as the SGP2 class of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series after rights holders Discovery Channel, Discovery Sports Events took over promotional rights of the competition prior to the start of the season. The series was staged over three rounds at Prague, Cardiff and Torun. Poland's Mateusz Cierniak won the title, winning two of the three rounds in the process. The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. History Between 1977 and 1987 the Championship was the called Individual Speedway Junior European Championship (European Speedway Under 21 Championship), open only to European riders. In 1979, the Championship allowed riders from other continents to compete, but was renamed to the Speedway World Under 21 Championship in 1988. The 2022 British Speedway Championship was the 62nd edition of the British Speedway Championship. Summary The final was held at the National Speedway Stadium and was won by Dan Bewley. The original date for the competition had been 1 August but bad weather forced the cancellation of the event after 12 heats. Dan Bewley
Daniel Bewley (born 10 May 1999) is a British international speedway rider. Career Bewley started riding for the Belle Vue Colts and as a reserve for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2017. In 2017, he won the National League Riders' Championship before being promoted to the senior side (Belle Vue Aces) in 2017. The same year he won the 2017 Conference League Riders' Championship. In 2018, he finished runner-up to Robert Lambert in the British Speedway Championship, won the British Under-19 Final and claimed a third place in the second round of the World Under 21 Championship series in Poland. In 2020, Bewley won the British Speedway Under 21 Championship and became a member of the British Speedway team. In 2021, he finished runner-up again in the 2021 British Speedway Championship. SGB Championship 2022
The 2022 SGB Championship season is the 75th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 5th known as the SGB Championship. Summary Eleven clubs competed in the Championship in 2022, with Oxford returning to the sport after a 15 year absence. The Eastbourne Eagles and the Kent Kings did not compete in the 2022 edition, with the Kings riding in the National Development League as The Royals, and Eastbourne not riding at all. Alongside the league and Knockout Cup, a new Summer competition was added in form of a group stage before a three team final at Sheffield. The tournament was called 'The Championship Jubilee League' which was eventually suspended until the 2023 season. However the additional fixtures created an issue due to the suspension of fixtures during the Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II and the heavy rain during October. SGB Championship 2019
The SGB Championship 2019 is the second division of Great British speedway. The season runs between March and October 2019 and consisted of 12 participating teams. The current league champions are the Workington Comets who completed an excellent 2018 season winning three major trophies. Four new teams joined the SGB Championship in 2019 with two of them dropping down from the 2018 SGB Premiership league season these teams were Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels with Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers moving in the opposite direction. Two teams from the third tier of British speedway the National League Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles moved up into this season's league while the Lakeside Hammers did not compete.
