Tom Black Track At LaPorte Stadium
Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium is home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers men's and women's outdoor track and field teams. It is located in the heart of the university's campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. History Known commonly as Tom Black Track, the facility opened in 1966 after former Tennessee track and field coach Chuck Rohe spearheaded a drive to build a track facility for his program. The facility is named in honor of Tom Black, a Knoxville businessman and potato chip entrepreneur (whose company was later acquired by Tom's Snacks), whose donation led to the construction of the track and stadium. The stadium around the track was later named in honor of the LaPorte family, whose donation contributed to improvements made to the facility. The first competition at the track was a dual meet with Alabama on April 2, 1966. The record attendance for the facility is 9,000 for a dual meet with Villanova on April 6, 1968. Benita Fitzgerald-Brown
Benita Fitzgerald Mosley (formerly Benita Fitzgerald-Brown; born July 6, 1961) is a retired American athlete, who mainly competed in the women's 100 metres hurdles event. Early life A native of Warrenton, Virginia, she grew up in nearby Dale City where at an early age, she began to excel in athletics and academics. After graduating from Gar-Field High School, she attended the University of Tennessee on a full athletic scholarship, where she earned a B.S. in industrial engineering. While at Tennessee, she was a fifteen-time All-American and won 4 NCAA titles, including three 100-meter outdoor hurdles championships. Anthony Famiglietti ''(nickname: Fam;'' born November 8, 1978, in Medford, New York) is an American track and field athlete who competes professionally for Skechers Performance and Reckless Running. He was formerly sponsored by Adidas. He has competed for the U.S. in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Kali Davis-White (born October 27, 1994) is a sprint athlete, who specializes in the 60 meters, 100 meters, and 200 meters. She competes for the Tennessee Volunteers. Career College Kali Davis-White started her college career at Florida State University in the 2014 season. After her sophomore year at Florida State, she transferred to Tennessee where she competed in 2016. Professional Davis-White was born and competed for the United States as a Junior athlete. Anthony E. Cosey (born October 5, 1974) is a steeplechase Olympian and retired American long-distance runner. He finished 36th at the 1999 World Cross Country Championships (long race) and 39th at the 2001 World Cross Country Championships (short race), and placed lowly in 2002 (short race). He also competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase, without reaching the final. Christian Coleman (born March 6, 1996) is an American professional track and field sprinter who competes in the 100 meters and 200 meters. He is the former world champion in the 100 meters.
