Tom Bedecki
Thomas George Bedecki (May 4, 1929 – December 15, 1993) was a Canadian ice hockey player, and college ice hockey head coach at University of Ottawa, Colorado College, and Ohio State University. Education Bedecki attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia where he also played hockey. He earned an M.A. in Education from Springfield College in 1953. Career as coach Bedecki started his head coaching career at University of Ottawa before accepting the same position at Colorado College in June 1955. At CC, Bedecki lead the Tigers to the school's second NCAA championship in 1957 with a 13–6 win over the Michigan Wolverines. The 13 goals remains tied (along with the 1950 Colorado College team) for most goals scored in an NCAA championship game. Bedecki resigned abruptly following his third season in 1958. Glace Bay, Nova Scotia
Glace Bay (Scottish Gaelic: ''Glasbaidh'') is a community in the eastern part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada. It forms part of the general area referred to as Industrial Cape Breton. Formerly an incorporated town (1901–1995), the municipal government in Glace Bay was dissolved and the community was amalgamated into the larger regional municipality. Prior to amalgamation, Glace Bay had been the province's fourth largest urban area and the largest town in Nova Scotia by population. Neighbouring communities include Reserve Mines, Dominion, and Tower Road. History As early as the 1720s, the French inhabited the area to supply Fortress of Louisbourg with coal. This was the 9th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 62nd year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team. Clarkson completed the first undefeated season, going 23-0, since the inception of the NCAA tournament. As of 2016 only Cornell (in 1970) has been able to accomplish the same feat. 1964–65 NCAA University Division Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 1964–65 NCAA University Division men's ice hockey season began in November 1964 and concluded with the 1965 NCAA University Division Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 20, 1965 at the Meehan Auditorium in Providence, Rhode Island. This was the 18th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 71st year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team. The ECAC conference was nearly halved before the season, going from 29 teams the previous year down to 15. This happened due to the creation of a lower-tier division for the schools that couldn't afford or weren't willing to compete with the wealthier universities. The lower tier would go through several changes over the years but continues to operate as the Division III level as well as the lone remaining Division II conference, Northeast-10. The 1963–64 NCAA men's ice hockey season began in November 1963 and concluded with the 1964 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 21, 1964 at the University of Denver Arena in Denver, Colorado. This was the 17th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 70th year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team. This was the final year where no distinction in classification was made for NCAA ice hockey. The following year saw 14 members of the ECAC drop down to a new College Division to separate teams on a more equal financial footing. While some would resurface at the D-I level in later years most would remain in the lower-tier leagues. This was the first season of play for both Wisconsin and Ohio State as university sponsored clubs. While both were members of the Big Ten Conference they did not play the other three member schools and thus did not qualify for the informal ice hockey conference. 1956–57 Colorado College Tigers Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 1956–57 Colorado College Tigers men's ice hockey team represented Colorado College in college ice hockey. In its 2nd year under head coach Tom Bedecki, the team compiled a 25–5–0 record, outscored opponents 205 to 106, and won the 1957 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Tigers defeated Michigan 13–6 in the championship game at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. CC tied the record for the most goals scored in a championship game (1950) and combined with the Wolverines for the most total goals in a title game (19). As of 2018 this is the last time Colorado College has won the national title in ice hockey.
