Tom Baldwin (trader)
Lucian Thomas Baldwin III is a bond trader investor and founder of the Baldwin Group of companies. He was described by the ''Wall Street Journal'' as a trader who can singlehandedly move the Treasury bond market. He often trades the 30-year bond in the pits of the Chicago Board of Trade. Career After receiving his master's degree in agribusiness Baldwin worked as a meat packer in Ohio. He took advice from a friend and moved to Chicago with some trading knowledge from a few courses taken at graduate school. Due to high inflation in the US in the 1980s, hedgers and speculators preferred trading in treasury bonds. Baldwin followed this trend. Baldwin experienced success as a bond trader, and leased a seat on the Chicago exchange. In finance, a bond is a type of security under which the issuer ( debtor) owes the holder ( creditor) a debt, and is obliged – depending on the terms – to repay the principal (i.e. amount borrowed) of the bond at the maturity date as well as interest (called the coupon) over a specified amount of time. The interest is usually payable at fixed intervals: semiannual, annual, and less often at other periods. Thus, a bond is a form of loan or IOU. Bonds provide the borrower with external funds to finance long-term investments or, in the case of government bonds, to finance current expenditure. Granot Loma
Granot Loma is an estate located on County Road 550 north of Marquette, Michigan, constructed in the tradition of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It is said to be the "biggest log cabin in the world" and the most expensive residence in Michigan. In 2022, Granot Loma was being touted as a potential space port in the Upper Peninsula. This would be in tandem with Oscoda, Michigan's Wurtsmith Air Force Base.
