Tom Allen (hurler)
Thomas Allen (4 September 1874 – 20 June 1952) was an Irish hurler. His championship career with the Tipperary senior team spanned several seasons from 1900 until 1907. Born in Littleton, County Tipperary, Allen was the third of five children born to William and Catherine Allen (née Purcell). He was educated locally before later working as a farmer. Allen first played competitive hurling with the Two-Mile-Borris club. In a successful era for the club, he won county senior championship medals in 1900, 1903 and 1905. Success at club level saw Allen added to the Tipperary senior team and he made his debut during the 1900 championship. He won an All-Ireland medal in his debut season before claiming a second winners' medal in 1906. Allen also won two Munster medals before retiring from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 1907 championship. Moycarkey–Borris GAA
Moycarkey–Borris GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the village of Littleton but also takes in areas such as Two-Mile-Borris, Horse and Jockey, and Moycarkey. The 1900 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 14th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 12 May 1901 and ended on 26 October 1902. Tipperary were the defending champions, and retained their title following a 2-5 to 0-6 defeat of London in the final. The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points.
