Toivo Topias Pohjala (July 27, 1931 – November 12, 2018) was a Finnish agronomist and politician. He was born in Harjavalta, and is son of Toivo Pohjala. Harjavalta
Harjavalta () is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Satakunta region, southeast of Pori. The town has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Today people in the town are employed in the copper and nickel smelting industries. Today's most used metal recovery method, the flash smelting method, was developed at Harjavalta and implemented in 1949. Originally part of Outokumpu, a Finnish company, the copper business is now owned by Boliden and the nickel business by Norilsk Nickel. Hiittenharju is a ridge in Harjavalta, known for its archaeology and cultural history. The banks of the ancient Litorina Sea lies on the fringes of the Hiittenharju ridge. In the Hiittenharju area Bronze Age graves, called barrows, have been discovered, and there is also a historical route called Huovintie running through Hiittenharju. Sinikka Linkomies-Pohjala ( Linkomies, later Karhuvaara; 1929, Helsinki – 2000, Pori) was a Finnish politician. She graduated from the University of Helsinki with a master's degree in 1957, and went on to work as a Swedish language teacher for over a decade until 1969. Toivo Pohjala (1 February 1888 – 23 August 1969) was a Finnish wrestler and harness racing driver. Wrestling Pohjala competed at the 1924 Summer Olympics, where he placed 7th in freestyle heavyweight event. He won a bronze medal in the heavyweight class at the 1922 World Wrestling Championships.
