Togher, Cork
Togher () is a suburb on the southside of Cork city, Ireland. Togher is within the Dáil constituency of Cork South-Central. Geography Togher is bounded to the north by The Lough, to the south by Ballincrannig and Farmers Cross, to the east by Ballyphehane and to the west by Waterfall and Wilton. Flowing through the parish is the Liberty Stream, from Corcoran's Bridge to Togher Cross where it disappears underground for a short while before re-emerging at Greenwood and joining the larger Tramore River on its way to Douglas. Togher is divided into the electoral divisions of Togher A and Togher B, which (as of 2016) had a combined population of 2,765. An electoral division (ED, ) is a legally defined administrative area in the Republic of Ireland, generally comprising multiple townlands, and formerly a subdivision of urban and rural districts. Wilton is a suburb of Cork City. It is the site of Cork University Hospital, Cork's largest hospital. Cork City
Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. It is located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is over 222,000. Glasheen
Glasheen () is a suburb in south central Cork city in Ireland. The area earned its name from the stream that flows through it, under the Glasheen Road. Glasheen means small stream in Irish. The local schools include Glasheen B.N.S and Glasheen G.N.S. People The former Taoiseach Jack Lynch is buried in St. Finbarrs cemetery on the Glasheen Road. Denis Irwin
Joseph Denis Irwin (born 31 October 1965) is an Irish former professional footballer and sports television presenter. As a player, he played as a full-back from 1983 to 2004. Irwin is best known for his long and successful stint at Manchester United, where he established himself as one of the most important players in the United team that won a host of domestic and European trophies in his time there between 1990 and 2002. Joe Gamble
Joseph Finbar Gamble (born 14 January 1982) is a retired Irish footballer. Gamble's playing career spanned 16 years and saw him play for a number of teams across England and Ireland, most notably his local Cork City, as well as being capped twice for the national side before finishing his career in Singapore as player-assistant coach at DPMM FC. After retiring as a player, Gamble moved into full-time coaching before returning to Cork City as their first-team assistant coach. Linda Doyle
Linda E. Doyle is an Irish academic and educator who is the 45th provost and president of Trinity College Dublin (TCD), the university's chief officer. An electrical engineer, she has had a long academic career at Trinity, from the 1990s, most recently as Professor of Engineering and the Arts, in addition to holding other management roles such as Dean (and Vice-President) of Research. Brian Patrick Carey (born 31 May 1968) is a former Irish international footballer who played in the Football League for Leicester City as well as Wrexham, whom he also served as manager. Since his playing retirement he has worked as the Assistant Manager at Doncaster and Wolves and Chesterfield FC. He was the Lead Professional Development a Coach at Blackburn Rovers until May 2015. Robert Heffernan
Robert Heffernan (born 28 February 1978) is an Irish race walker. Career At the 2000 Olympics he finished in 28th place, and at the 2004 Olympics he was disqualified, both in the 20 km race walking discipline. At the 2008 Olympic Games he improved, coming eighth in the 20km Walk. His wife Marian Andrews is also national women's 400 metres champion and was on the Irish women's team that finished 4th in the European indoors. On 27 July 2010, Heffernan won the bronze medal in the 2010 European Athletics Championships in the 20 kilometres walk, posting a time of 1:21:00 (achieved retrospectively in 2014 after Russian Stanislav Emelyanov was found to have committed an anti-doping violation).
