Minas Gerais () is a state in Southeastern Brazil. It ranks as the second most populous, the third by gross domestic product (GDP), and the fourth largest by area in the country. The state's capital and largest city, Belo Horizonte (literally "Beautiful Horizon"), is a major urban and finance center in Latin America, and the sixth largest municipality in Brazil, after the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Brasília and Fortaleza, but its metropolitan area is the third largest in Brazil with just over 5.8 million inhabitants, after those of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Zona Da Mata (Minas Gerais)

Zona da Mata is a Mesoregion (Brazil), mesoregion of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, situated in the southeastern part of the state, along the border of the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro (state), Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. The region has a lot of hills, and the heights varies from 100 to 1,900 meters. The most important river is the Paraíba do Sul. Because of its geography it produces one of the best coffees of the region; coming first in 2007 in the annual Brazilian Quality Coffee for Espresso Awards (run by the Italian coffee company Illy). Zona da Mata was the richest region of Minas Gerais from the 1850s to the 1930s due to coffee and milk production. Ubá
Ubá is a municipality located in the Zona da Mata mesoregion of Minas Gerais, Brazil, southeast of Belo Horizonte, and north of Rio de Janeiro. The estimated population of the city of Ubá was 116,797 in 2020. The current mayor of Ubá is Edson Teixeira Filho. Once a great tobacco producer, Ubá has one of the main furniture industry parks in Brazil. The city is the economic and cultural center of Ubá microregion. It is also home of the famous Ubá mango (Manga Ubá). History Settlement The Pomba River basin settlement took place, initially, due to the decline of mining activities.
