Toby McDonald
Tobias F. "Toby" McDonald, (born c. 1949) is a Canadian curler, curling coach and lawyer from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. At the national level, he won the 1976 Macdonald Brier, as a member of the first ever team from Newfoundland and Labrador to win the Brier. He coached the Canadian men's curling team at the 2006 Winter Olympics where they won the gold medal. Bally Haly Golf & Curling Club
Bally Haly Golf & Curling Club ( ), is a semi-private curling club and golf course located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is the oldest golf club in Atlantic Canada, having been founded in 1896. In that year, a group of ten prominent Newfoundland gentlemen formed the Newfoundland Golf Club. History The first golf course was a 9-hole layout on Buckmasters field. This original 9-hole course, however, had limited area for expansion and in 1908, with the growing popularity of the game, club President, the Hon. John Browning, negotiated with the trustees of the estate of Lieutenant Colonel William Haly for the former British Garrison land adjacent to the Virginia River in east St. John's. Upon acquiring a plot of land of approximately two hundred acres in size, the club was renamed the Bally Haly Golf Club and an 18-hole course was constructed. Randy Turpin (curler)
Randolph Adolphus Turpin (7 June 1928 – 17 May 1966), better known as Randy Turpin, was a British boxer in the 1940s and 1950s. In 1951 he became world middleweight champion when he defeated Sugar Ray Robinson. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2001. Early life Randolph Turpin was born in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, to a black father Lionel who was born in British Guyana now known as Guyana in 1896. He had come to England to fight in the First World War. He had met Randolph's mother after coming out of hospital following treatment for his injuries sustained towards the end of the war. During his service he had fought at the battle of the Somme. He died within a year of Randolph's birth, having never really recovered from the lung damage caused by a gas attack. Mark Noseworthy is a Canadian musician and composer based in Los Angeles. He is a member of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and has a solo project called Terri Terri. He is also a composer for television and film, including ''I'm Dying Up Here'' on Showtime. Career Noseworthy was born in London, Ontario. He joined Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as a guitarist and vocalist in 2009. Lloyd Powell (22 August 188825 March 1975) was an English, later Canadian pianist and teacher. Career Lloyd Ioan Powell was born in Ironbridge, Shropshire in 1888.''Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians'', 5th ed (1954), Vol. VI, p. 901 His parents were Welsh. He studied at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London from the age of 10.
