Tobu 9000 Series
The is a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) commuter train type operated by the private railway operator Tobu Railway in Japan since 1981. Operations First entering service in 1981 on the Tobu Tojo Line, this was the first stainless steel EMU type to be introduced by Tobu. A total of ten 10-car sets were ultimately built for use on through-running services over the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, as well as Tojo Line services between Ikebukuro and Ogawamachi. An electric multiple unit or EMU is a multiple-unit train consisting of self-propelled carriages using electricity as the motive power. An EMU requires no separate locomotive, as electric traction motors are incorporated within one or a number of the carriages. An EMU is usually formed of two or more semi-permanently coupled carriages, but electrically powered single-unit railcars are also generally classed as EMUs. The great majority of EMUs are passenger trains, but versions also exist for carrying mail. EMUs are popular on commuter and suburban rail networks around the world due to their fast acceleration and pollution-free operation. Being quieter than diesel multiple units (DMUs) and locomotive-hauled trains, EMUs can operate later at night and more frequently without disturbing nearby residents. Moquette
Moquette, derived from the French word for carpet, is a type of woven pile fabric in which cut or uncut threads form a short dense cut or loop pile. As well as giving it a distinctive velvet-like feel, the pile construction is particularly durable, and ideally suited to applications such as public transport. Its upright fibres form a flexible, non-rigid surface, which are constantly displaced to give durability and anti-stain benefits. Traditional moquette fabrics are made from a wool nylon face with an interwoven cotton backing. Origin Moquette originated in France, where it was woven by hand. The standard width was a Flemish ell of 27 inches. There were two finishes: moquette ''velouté'', which had a cut pile like English Wilton, and moquette ''bouclé'', which had an uncut pile like Brussels carpet. First entering service in 1983 on the Tobu Tojo Line (1984 on the Tobu Isesaki Line), production continued through to 1995, with a total of 486 vehicles built. Ogawamachi Station (Saitama)
is a joint-use railway station located in the town of Ogawa, Saitama, Japan, operated jointly by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and the private Tōbu Railway Company. The station premises are managed by Tobu Railway. Lines Ogawamachi Station is served by the Hachikō Line between and , and also by the Tōbu Tōjō Line from in Tokyo. It is located 64.1 km from the Tōbu Tōjō Line Ikebukuro terminus. Station layout The Tōbu side of the station consists of two island platforms serving four tracks.
