John Tobler
John Hugen Tobler (born 9 May 1943) is a British rock music journalist, writer, occasional broadcaster, and record company executive. With Pete Frame, he was one of the founders of ZigZag magazine in April 1969. The magazine focused on the " underground" music scene of the time and featured Tobler's interviews with many of the leading rock and folk musicians of the period, both American and British. He continued to write for ZigZag until the 1980s, and for many other music magazines since then. Theodor Tobler
Theodor Tobler (24 January 1876 – 4 May 1941) was a Swiss chocolatier and businessman, best known as the creator, along with Emil Baumann, of the Swiss chocolate brand Toblerone. Early life Tobler was born on 24 January 1876 in Bern to Johann Jakob Tobler (1830-1905), a confectioner from Lutzenberg, a town in Appenzell Ausserrhoden near the Austrian border, and Adeline Lorenz Tobler (née Baumann). He attended school in Bern from 1885 to 1892, but left without graduating. After receiving a commercial education in Geneva and Venice, Tobler entered his father's business in 1894. As their demand increased in the following years, in 1899 Johann Jakob Tobler transformed the confectionery shop into a chocolate factory, naming it ''Fabrique de Chocolat Berne, Tobler & Cie''. Johann Ludwig Tobler (1 June 1827 – 19 August 1895) was a Swiss philologist and folklorist. Born in Hirzel in Zürich, Switzerland, he was an older brother of philologist Adolf Tobler (1835–1910). Ludwig Tobler died in Zürich. He studied theology, philosophy and philology at the universities of Zürich and Leipzig, receiving his doctorate at the latter institution in 1851. Li Tobler
Li Tobler (30 November 1947 – 19 May 1975) was a Swiss stage actress and model for the artist H. R. Giger. Two of his major paintings were portraits of Tobler, and her face can also be recognised in some of his semi-abstract subjects where man and machine are fused into one. Tobler lived with Giger in squalor, often inside condemned buildings, eventually becoming romantically involved. Although their relationship was open, it remained deeply intense and creatively inspiring to Giger. Tobler suffered from emotional insecurity, heavy drug dependence and physical exhaustion from theatrical tours. She committed suicide at age 27 as a result of constant depression. Johann Heinrich Tobler (1777–1838) was a Swiss singer and composer of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, active in the formative period of Switzerland as a federal state.
