Mike Bauer (born June 29, 1959) is a retired American tour professional tennis player. Bauer won three singles and nine top-tier doubles titles during his career. He reached a career high singles ranking of world No. 29 in November 1984. The Tel Aviv Open is an ATP World Tour affiliated tennis tournament. It was played from 1978 through 1981 and 1983 through 1996 and was to be resumed in 2014, marking the end of the tournament in St. Petersburg, however, the 2014 edition was cancelled due to security concerns arising from the ongoing war with the neighboring Gaza Strip, the event was scrapped permanently in 2015. On June 21, 2022, it was announced that the tournament would take place in 2022, albeit in a different venue than previous editions. The tournament is held at the Israel Tennis Center in the Tel Aviv District city of Ramat HaSharon, Israel and is played on outdoor hard courts. Tennis career As a junior, Yzaga won the French Open in 1985 and reached the semifinals of Wimbledon (also in 1985) and of the US Open (1984). The U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships is an annual ATP Tour tennis tournament that started in 1910. It is the last remaining ATP World Tour-level tournament in the United States to be played on clay courts. The tournament began in 1910 when the Western Lawn Tennis Association (a section of the United States Lawn Tennis Association now known as the USTA/Midwest) lobbied the USLTA that a National Clay Court Championship would help promote the establishment of more clay courts in the West. Clay courts were more economical to install and maintain than grass courts, and the hope was that the lower costs associated with court construction would allow for a more rapid expansion of the game.
