Tobias Jonsson (golfer)
Tobias Jonsson (born 12 June 2000) is a Swedish amateur golfer. He won the individual title at the 2022 Eisenhower Trophy, the World Amateur Team Championship. Amateur career Jonsson accepted a scholarship to Young Harris College and spent two years playing with the Young Harris Mountain Lions men's golf team, 2019–2021, winning the 2021 Bobcat Invitational. He spent his next two years at Mercer University playing with the Mercer Bears men's golf team, where he won five tournaments. In 2021, he finished solo third at the Göteborg Open on the Nordic Golf League, two strokes behind winner Jonathan Ågren. Jonsson joined the Swedish National Team in 2022. He won silver at the 2022 European Amateur Team Championship in England, after Sweden lost the final to Spain 4 to 2. Haninge Municipality
Haninge Municipality (''Haninge kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Handen, a part of the Stockholm urban area. Haninge Municipality was formed in 1971 when ''Västerhaninge'' and ''Österhaninge'' were united. The municipal coat of arms depicts a capercaillie from which the name Haninge is believed to have been derived (the German word ''hahn'' means capercaillie), while the anchor symbolizes the naval base in the municipality. Bonallack Trophy
The Bonallack Trophy is an amateur golf competition on the model of the Ryder Cup which opposes every two years a European team and a team representing Asia/Pacific. The venue alternates between courses in Europe and Asia/Pacific. The first competition took place in 1998 in Perth, Australia. Since 2016 it has been held concurrently with the women's Patsy Hankins Trophy. Europe leads the series 7 wins to 3. Format The Bonallack Trophy involves various match play competitions between players selected from two teams of twelve representing Europe and Asia/Pacific. The 2023 European Amateur Team Championship took place 11–15 July at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club in Lasne, Belgium. It was the 40th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Defending champion team Spain won the championship. Venue The hosting club was founded in 1923 by Rodolphe Seeldrayers. The Marache Course was designed by architect Fred Hawtree and established in 1961 in Ohain, Lasne, in the region of Wallon Brabant, close to the historic Waterloo battlefield, 20 kilometres south-east of the city center of Brussels, Belgium. European Amateur Team Championship
The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format 1959–1965 Each team consisted of a minimum of six players, playing two rounds of stroke play, counting the four best scores for each team. 2023 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2023 Eisenhower Trophy took place 18–21 October at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was the 33rd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. Venue Abu Dhabi Golf Club had previously hosted the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on the European Tour 2006 to 2021. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round.
