Tobgyal (born May 1958), also called Duobujie (), is a Chinese actor of Tibetan descent, best known in film for portraying a tribal chief in ''Red River Valley'' (1997), Ri Tai in '' Kekexili: Mountain Patrol'' (2004), and Zhan Tiejun in ''No Man's Land'' (2013). He is a . He is a member of the China Theater Association and China Film and Television Association. Early life and education Tobgyal was born in Kardak Township, Cona County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, in May 1958. In 1972, during the middle of the Cultural Revolution, his grandparents sent him to a propaganda team. As a youth, he had his first on stage experience by reciting ''Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung'' in a theater in Tibet. Two years later, he returned home to be a farmer. ''Kekexili: Mountain Patrol'' (; bo, ཨ་ཆེན་གངས་རྒྱལ།) is a 2004 Chinese film directed by Lu Chuan that depicts the struggle between vigilante rangers and bands of poachers in the remote Tibetan region of Kekexili (Hoh Xil). It was inspired by the documentary ''Balance'' by Peng Hui. Despite its realistic, detached style, the film evokes the dramatic Western genre in several ways. ''No Man's Land'' is a 2013 Chinese neo-western thriller film directed, co-written and co-produced by Ning Hao and starring Xu Zheng, Yu Nan, Huang Bo and Tobgye (Tibetan actor also known as Duobuji). Plot The entire film happens in a very desolate region of China, in the northwestern deserts. A poacher (Huang Bo) is being arrested by a police officer after capturing a rare falcon, worth 1 million RMB on the black market. A second poacher (Tobgye) kills the police officer with his jeep and tells the first poacher to flee, while he stays behind himself to take responsibility. He hires one of the best lawyers ( Xu Zheng) in China for his defense, forcing the lawyer to travel a long distance to get to the town. At the trial, the lawyer gets the poacher acquitted by arguing that the crash happened because the police officer was drunk.
