''...To the Beat of a Dead Horse'' is the debut studio album by the American post-hardcore band Touché Amoré. released on August 4, 2009, through 6131 Records. It was produced by Alex Estrada, while the album artwork was created by guitarist Nick Steinhardt. The album features guest appearances from Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly and Modern Life is War vocalist Jeff Eaton. The songs "Broken Records" and "Honest Sleep" were rerecorded from the band's self-titled demo that was released in 2008. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the album, the band re-recorded it in its entirety and released it on August 9, 2019 under the name of ''Dead Horse X''. Touché Amoré is an American post-hardcore band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2007. The band consists of vocalist Jeremy Bolm, guitarists Clayton Stevens and Nick Steinhardt, bassist Tyler Kirby, and drummer Elliot Babin. Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. It generally incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. ''Searching for a Pulse/The Worth of the World'' is a split EP between American post-hardcore bands Touché Amoré and La Dispute. It was released on July 27, 2010, through No Sleep Records. The EP was the first split release for both bands and consists of two original songs from each band, all four of them featuring both vocalists. Background Jordan Dreyer, the lead vocalist of La Dispute when interviewed was asked the reasons behind why they recorded the extended play and he states it was because of the close relationship his band shares with Touché Amoré, saying: "Both our bands share similar ideologies and approaches to music, so it made sense to collaborate on something". Geoffrey William Rickly (born March 8, 1979) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of rock band Thursday. Rickly is also a member of hardcore punk band United Nations, and the alternative rock group No Devotion with former members of Lostprophets, and is the founder of the record label Collect Records. Personal life Rickly was born in Providence, Rhode Island and raised in Dumont, New Jersey, into a Catholic family, and attended Dumont High School, where he was a member of the band and played the tenor sax. He was raised Catholic, Rickly is a diagnosed epileptic, which has affected his ability to tour. In early 2013, Rickly was mugged in New York City, where his cell phone, iPad, wallet, credit card, rent money, and medication were stolen. Jeremy Bolm
Jeremy Bolm is an American vocalist, record label owner, music producer and writer. In his music career, he is most known for being the full-time vocalist of the post-hardcore band Touché Amoré. He has also performed with the part-time bands Thriller, Deadhead and Hesitation Wounds. Outside of performing, Bolm runs the indie record label Secret Voice and self-publishes his own poetry zines. Personal life Before deciding to be a member of Touché Amoré full-time, Bolm worked various jobs in the music and entertainment industry. He worked at a local record store and did freelance work for multiple publications including ''LA Weekly''. Paul Miner
Paul Miner (born December 4, 1976) is the bassist for Death by Stereo, who left the band early 2005 (right before the band's fourth album '' Death for Life''), to produce, engineer, master, and mix music full-time. Previously he produced and engineered the first three Death by Stereo records, which is probably why the band's fourth album ''Death for Life'', was a noticeable departure from their regular sound. Paul was also in a band called Kill The Messenger, which was also signed to Indecision Records. Paul is the brother of Jim Miner, the original guitarist, who left the band during the recording of Death by Stereo's third album ''Into the Valley of Death''. Paul and his brother Jim recently reunited with Death by Stereo in 2006 to record their upcoming fifth studio album, entitled '' Death Is My Only Friend'', which is due for release in 2009.
