Titanica
''Titanica'' is a 1992 IMAX documentary film about the RMS ''Titanic''. The film was directed by Stephen Low and narrated by Cedric Smith, Anatoly Sagalevich and Ralph White. The film mostly focuses on footage taken at the wreck of the RMS ''Titanic'', also featuring footage of the expedition crew searching the wreck as well as interviews with ''Titanic'' survivors Frank John William Goldsmith and Eva Hart. Using Eva and the crew members, Low conveys the voice of the documentary by showing the Titanic's wreckage as a graveyard which is to be respected and treated with caution and care. It was the second feature-length IMAX film released, following ''Stones at the Max'' in 1991. An edited 40 minute version of the film was also later released for IMAX theatres in 1995; this version had new narration by Leonard Nimoy, though it retains most of White's narration. RMS ''Titanic'' was a British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line, which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States. Of the estimated 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it the deadliest sinking of a single ship up to that time. It remains the deadliest peacetime sinking of a superliner or cruise ship. Stephen Low (born 1950) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter who works extensively in the IMAX and IMAX 3D film formats. Frank John William Goldsmith Jr. (19 December 1902 — 27 January 1982), was a young third-class passenger of the and a survivor of the sinking in 1912. Eva Miriam Hart MBE (31 January 1905 – 14 February 1996) was a British woman who was one of the last remaining survivors of the sinking of RMS ''Titanic'' on 15 April 1912. Biography Early life Eva Hart was born on 31 January 1905 in Ilford, Essex (now part of Greater London), England, to a Jewish father and a Christian mother. Her parents were Benjamin Hart and his wife Esther (née Bloomfield). Eva was their only child. Esther had been previously married and had nine children from her first marriage. Eva was educated at St. Mary's Convent (later St. Mary's Hare Park) in Gidea Park, London. In early 1912, Benjamin decided his family would emigrate to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Emory Kristof
Emory Kristof (November 19, 1942 – February 6, 2023) was an American photographer. He was on the expedition that discovered the Titanic. His work has been published in ''National Geographic Magazine'' and elsewhere. Life and career Kristof was born in Laurel, Maryland, on November 19, 1942. Kristof participated in multiple undersea expeditions with Canadian explorers Joseph MacInnis and Phil Nuytten, including the exploration of the ''Breadalbane'', the world's northernmost known shipwreck, and the 1995 expedition to recover the bell from the wreck of the SS ''Edmund Fitzgerald''. Cedric Smith (actor)
Cedric Smith (born 21 September 1943) is an English Canadian actor and musician. He played Alec King in the CBC television series '' Road to Avonlea'' and was the voice of Professor X in the ''X-Men'' TV series. Music Born in Bournemouth, Hampshire (now Dorset), England, Smith moved to Canada when he was about 10 years old. In 1961, he dropped out of high school to become a full-time folk singer. He was a member of the folk group Perth County Conspiracy, and wrote several songs that were performed and recorded by the band. Ca. 1963, he performed at the "Lemon Tree" a Dayton, Ohio coffee house for an extended time. Between sets he would read from a giant volume of Shakespeare.
