''Titan FC 29: Ricci vs. Sotiropoulos'' was a mixed martial arts event, held on August 22, 2014 at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Background Originally this event was supposed to headline by former UFC vets Ben Saunders taking on Matt Riddle for the vacant wetherlegith championship but Riddle pulled out due to injury and was replaced with Jose Landi-Jons. The fight was then called off due to Landi-Jons running into visa issues and Ben Saunders returning to the UFC. Originally Mike Ricci & George Sotiropoulos were slated to take on one another at Titan FC 28, but Ricci suffered an injury and the bout was called off. Vinny Magalhães was scheduled to fight Dustin Jacoby but Magalhães suffered a minor injury and was replaced with Lucas Lopes. Titan Fighting Championship (Titan FC) is an American mixed martial arts promotion based out of Pompano Beach, Florida. Their shows were originally run in and near Kansas City and have since expanded to include venues all over North America and eventually, international locations. Since July 2015, Titan FC events are broadcast on the UFC online streaming service UFC Fight Pass, which also showcases a library of the organization's previous events. History Founding Titan Fighting Championships was founded in 2005 by veteran fight promoter and, at the time, Bellator Fighting Championships' director of operations, Joe Kelly. The organization was originally based in Kansas City and was headquartered in the city's historic Memorial Hall, where the organization held the majority of their early events. Mikel "Mike" Bronzoulis (born January 5, 1979) is an American mixed martial artist who most recently competed in the Lightweight division of Bellator. Lloyd Woodard (born November 12, 1984) is an American professional mixed martial artist, currently competing in Titan FC's Lightweight division. A professional competitor since 2005, Woodard has also formerly competed for Bellator and King of the Cage. Background Woodard was born in Memphis, the third youngest in a family of nine children. At the age of two, his parents divorced resulting in him and his siblings moving in and out of relatives' homes in different regions of the country.
