Tissa Nagodavithana
Tissa Mahanama Nagodavithana (10 January 1942 – 25 March 2020 as si, තිස්ස නාගොඩවිතාන) inhala, popularly known as Tissa Nagodavithana and Ti. Na., was a renowned film preservationist, film director, film producer and a singer. Considered as the leading film preservationist in Sri Lankan cinema, Nagodavithana contributed to preserve many rare Sinhala, Hindi, Tamil and English films of early cinema. Personal life He was born on 10 January 1942 in Wakunugoda Village, Galle, Sri Lanka. One of his close relative known as poet 'Bope Dasa' was a famous poet of the Colombo era. He first studied at Richmond College, Galle. Tissa taught Economics at the Sri Lanka College, Maradana for a while after obtaining a special degree in Economics from the University of Ceylon. Galle
Galle ( si, ගාල්ල, translit=Gālla; ta, காலி, translit=Kāli) (formerly Point de Galle) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip, from Colombo. University Of Ceylon
The University of Ceylon was the only university in Sri Lanka (earlier Ceylon) from 1942 until 1972. It had several constituent campuses at various locations around Sri Lanka. The University of Ceylon Act No. 1 of 1972, replaced it with the University of Sri Lanka which existed from 1973 to 1978. In 1978 it was separated into four independent universities. Richmond College, Galle
Richmond College ( si, රිච්මන්ඩ් විද්යාලය) is a primary and secondary school in Galle, Sri Lanka which was established as Galle High School in 1876. The founder of school was the Wesleyan Missionary George Bough. The first principal of the school was Rev Samuel Langdon. In 1882, it was renamed Richmond College. Richmond College is the first Wesleyan Methodist school to be established in Asia. The former school of Richmond College known as the 'Galle School' dates back to July 1814. Arumadura Lawrence Romelo Duminda Silva (born 3 December 1974: as Sinhala :දුමින්ද සිල්වා), popularly as Duminda Silva or R. Dumindha Silva, is a Sri Lankan politician and a former Member of Parliament. He is the brother of Raynor Silva, owner of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation. On 8 September 2016 he was sentenced to death by the High Court of Sri Lanka for the murder of Sri Lankan politician Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, a political rival. Kanatte Cemetery
Kanatte Cemetery, also known locally as Borella Cemetery, is Colombo's main burial ground and crematorium. It is located at the intersection of Elvitigala Mawatha (Narahenpita Road), Bauddhaloka Mawatha (Bullers Road) and D. S. Senanayake Mawatha (Baseline Road). The cemetery is owned and operated by the Colombo Municipal Council and contains a Commonwealth War Graves Plot with a number of additional war graves dispersed around the site. The war graves include those of a German soldier, a German merchant seaman, a German interned civilian and an Austrian nursing sister. Presidential Film Awards is a film award ceremony held in Sri Lanka. It is organized by the National Film Corporation along with the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
