Tirso Del Junco
Tirso Del Junco (born April 20, 1925) is an American politician who served as chair of the Republican Party of California, and the head of the University of California board of regents. He is also a former Olympic rower and a medical doctor. Early life and education Del Junco was born on April 20, 1925, in Havana, Cuba. Del Junco is a graduate of the University of Havana Medical School, 1949. He took an internship at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Rotating Internship from 1949 to 1950, and underwent residency at the Queen of Angels Hospital from 1951 to 1954. He was a member of the University of Pennsylvania, post-graduate surgical class from 1954 to 1955. He was also a member of the Cuban rowing team at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Medical career Del Junco is a general surgeon, diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The United States Naval Academy (US Naval Academy, USNA, or Navy) is a federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland. It was established on 10 October 1845 during the tenure of George Bancroft as Secretary of the Navy.
