Tionesta Bridge
The Tionesta Bridge is a girder bridge that carries U.S. Route 62 and Pennsylvania Route 36 across the Allegheny River in rural Forest County, Pennsylvania. The borough of Tionesta on the east bank of the river is connected with an unpopulated section of Tionesta Township on the west bank. This 1961 structure was the first girder bridge completed along the river between the edge of suburban Pittsburgh and Kinzua Dam. Over the last 30 years, many nearby structures were completed with a similar design; this bridge was rehabilitated in 1988. The Allegheny River ( ) is a long headwater stream of the Ohio River in western Pennsylvania and New York (state), New York. Hunter Station Bridge
The Hunter Station Bridge is a truss bridge that carries U.S. Route 62 (US 62) across the Allegheny River in rural Tionesta Township in Forest County, Pennsylvania. The structure was named for a railroad stop on the long defunct Ridgway & Oil City Railroad. The bridge features an unusual design, in which the roadway is built into the middle of the truss, as opposed to the bottom of the structure. This was done to prevent flooding from submerging the highway, which was relatively common before the upstream construction of the Kinzua Dam. In 1971, the bridge was reconstructed, several years after the completion of the dam. Pennsylvania Route 127 (PA 127) is a state highway located in Forest and Warren counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at U.S. Route 62 (US 62) in West Hickory. The northern terminus is at US 62 outside of Tidioute. Route description PA 127 begins at an intersection with US 62 in Hickory Township, Forest County, heading west on two-lane undivided Main Street. The route immediately crosses the Allegheny River into the residential community of West Hickory in Harmony Township. PA 127 turns south before turning northwest onto Fleming Hill Road and leaving West Hickory. The road curves north and enters dense hilly forests. PA 127 continues through more forests with a few areas of homes and fields, reaching a junction with the eastern terminus of PA 227 in Fagundus Corners. The West Hickory Bridge is a girder bridge that carries Pennsylvania Route 127 across the Allegheny River in rural Forest County, Pennsylvania. Spanning the river between Harmony Township and Hickory Township, it is named for the village of West Hickory. This 2007 bridge replaced an 1896 one-lane truss bridge, which was designed for non-motorized traffic. It was a multiple span, Pratt truss bridge built by the Groton Bridge Company and measured 695 feet, 6 inches, in length. U.S. Route 62 or U.S. Highway 62 (US 62) runs from the Mexican border at El Paso, Texas, to Niagara Falls, New York, near the Canadian border. Tionesta Township is a township in Forest County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 670 at the time of the 2020 census, up from the total of 729 that was documented by the 2010, up from 610 at the 2000 census. History Tionesta Township took its name from Tionesta Creek. Geography The township is located in the southwestern corner of Forest County, bordered to the south by Clarion County and to the west by Venango County. The township surrounds the borough of Tionesta, a separate municipality.
