Israel–Hezbollah Conflict (2023–present)
On 8 October 2023, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah fired guided rockets and artillery shells at Israeli positions in the disputed Shebaa Farms one day into the Israel–Hamas war. Israel retaliated by launching drone strikes and artillery shells at Hezbollah positions near Lebanon's boundary with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The outbreak of the conflict had followed Hezbollah's declaration of support and praise for the Hamas attack on Israel, which took place on 7 October. Clashes subsequently escalated to reach other parts of the Israel-Lebanon border and onto Syria and the occupied Golan Heights. Alim Abdallah
Alim Abdallah ( he, עלים עבדאללה; ar, عليم عبدالله; 1982 – 9 October 2023) was the deputy commander of the Israeli 300th Brigade of the 91st Division. Abdallah, a Druze Israeli, was killed by a Hezbollah strike while responding to an infiltration operation during the Israel–Hamas war. His rank was lieutenant colonel. Career Abdallah enlisted in the IDF in 2002, in the 299th Battalion. During the 2006 Lebanon War, he was the deputy commander of a company. After that, Abdallah was the battalion's commanding officer. After completing his studies, he was appointed deputy commander of the 33rd Battalion in Karakal. Issam Abdallah ( ar, عصام عبد الله; 1986 – 13 October 2023) was a Lebanese video journalist working for Reuters who was killed by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tank-fire in southern Lebanon on 13 October 2023, while reporting in the context of the Israel–Hamas war. Life Abdallah began providing Reuters with footage in 2007, working as a freelancer while completing his university studies. Abdallah carried a video camera and a camera for still photographs wherever he went. He first provided footage of intra-Lebanese conflicts. Naim Qassem
Naim Qassem ( ar, نعيم قاسم; born 1953) is a Shia Lebanese cleric and politician, who was the second-in-command of Hezbollah with the title of deputy secretary-general. Early life and education Qassem was born into a Shiite family in Kfar Fila in 1953. He studied theology and his teacher was Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah. False Alarm
A false alarm, also called a nuisance alarm, is the deceptive or erroneous report of an emergency, causing unnecessary panic and/or bringing resources (such as emergency services) to a place where they are not needed. Patriot Missile
The MIM-104 Patriot is a surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, the primary of its kind used by the United States Army and several allied states. It is manufactured by the U.S. defense contractor Raytheon and derives its name from the radar component of the weapon system. The AN/MPQ-53 at the heart of the system is known as the "Phased Array Tracking Radar to Intercept on Target", or PATRIOT.
