Manaus
Manaus () is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas. It is the seventh-largest city in Brazil, with an estimated 2020 population of 2,219,580 distributed over a land area of about . Located at the east center of the state, the city is the center of the Manaus metropolitan area and the largest metropolitan area in the North Region of Brazil by urban landmass. It is situated near the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. It is the only city in the Amazon Rainforest with a population over 1 million people. Vivaldão
Estádio Vivaldo Lima, usually known by its nickname Vivaldão, was a multi-purpose stadium in Manaus, Brazil. It was formerly used mostly for football matches. The stadium held 36,000, with 31,000 seats. It was built between 1958 and 1970. The Vivaldão was owned by the government of Amazonas state. The stadium was named after Vivaldo Lima, who was the founder of Nacional Fast Clube and it was the home ground of América Futebol Clube (AM), Nacional Futebol Clube and Atlético Rio Negro Clube. The stadium was demolished in 2011 and replaced by the Arena da Amazônia. History In 1970, construction of the Vivaldão was completed. 2017 Manaus Prison Riot
The 2017 Brazil prison riots were a confrontation between two criminal organizations, the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV), and their allies within prisons and peripheries of Brazilian cities. Its emergence is linked to the methods of the PCC to conquer new territories for drug trafficking, which involve the collection of insurance and economic centralization and whose rigid pseudo-state organization finds strong resistance from regional criminal organizations, with predominantly decentralized organization. Riots The confrontation has taken the form of prison rebellions culminating in massacres. At the end of 2016, the first rebellion took place in Roraima with dead detainees. Arena Da Amazônia
Arena da Amazônia (''Amazon Arena'') is a football stadium in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, located on the former site of the Vivaldão stadium. The stadium has an all-seater capacity of 44,300 and was constructed from 2010 to 2014 as part of Brazil's hosting of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 2013 Brazilian protests, also popularly known as the Vinegar Revolt, the Salad Revolt, the Vinegar March, or the V for Vinegar Movement. were public demonstrations in several Brazilian cities, initiated mainly by the Movimento Passe Livre (Free Fare Movement), a local entity that advocates for free public transportation. The Journalist Phelippe Dahsou Bridge ( pt, Ponte Rio Negro) is the fourth longest bridge in Brazil at long with a cable-stayed bridge section of 400-metre (1,132 ft) over the Rio Negro that links the cities of Manaus and Iranduba in the state of Amazonas in Brazil. It spans the Rio Negro just before its confluence with the Amazon River, and is the only major bridge across the Amazon or any tributary in the Amazon basin. The Amazonas Philharmonic ( pt, Amazonas Filarmônica) is a professional orchestra of the Amazonas (Brazilian state), headquartered in Manaus, and was founded on September 26, 1997, by Julio Medaglia. The orchestras Lead Conductor (Regente Titular) is Luiz Fernando Malheiro, and the Assistant Conductor and Artistic Director is Marcelo de Jesus. The Amazonas Philharmonic orchestra rehearses and performs concerts at the Amazon Theatre (a well known theater in the city of Manaus).
