Timelash
''Timelash'' is the fifth serial of the 22nd season in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in two weekly parts on BBC1 on 9 and 16 March 1985. In the serial, the Borad (Robert Ashby), the mutated leader of the planet Karfel, plots to start a war with the Bandril race which would wipe out both the Bandrils and Karfel's population so that the Borad could repopulate it with his own kind to rule the planet. Plot The TARDIS is ensnared by a Kontron tunnel (similar to a time corridor) and is drawn to its source on the planet Karfel, which the Doctor has previously visited. Its population is now ruled by the Borad, a sadistic ruler never seen in person, only via security monitors which reveal him to be an old man. His law is enforced by blue androids; and all rebels are dealt with either by summary execution or dispatch via the Timelash - exiled down a corridor of Time and Space. Doctor Who DVD Releases
This is a list of ''Doctor Who'' serials and episodes that have been released on DVD and Blu-ray. DVD Release Most ''Doctor Who'' DVDs have been released first in the United Kingdom with Region 2, and released later in Australia and New Zealand ( Region 4) and in North America ( Region 1). Aside from differences in the external packaging, special features and commentaries are mostly identical in all versions. All Region 1 releases prior to September 2005 included a "Who's Who" feature that identified key cast members and gave brief biographies and filmographies. The Region 1 releases of ''The Robots of Death'', ''The Ark in Space'', ''The Talons of Weng-Chiang'', and ''Pyramids of Mars'' also include a featurette with the syndicated Time Life introductions and closings narrated by Howard da Silva. Perpugilliam “Peri” Brown, is a fictional character played by Nicola Bryant in the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. An American botany major from Pasadena, California, Peri is a companion of the Fifth (Peter Davison) and Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) and a regular in the programme from 1984 to 1986, appearing in a total of 11 stories (collectively made up of 33 episodes). Doctor Who (season 22)
The twenty-second season of British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' began on 5 January 1985 and ended on 30 March 1985. It opened with the serial ''Attack of the Cybermen'' and ended with the serial ''Revelation of the Daleks''. The season returned to the traditional Saturday transmission for the first time since Season 18, but for the first and only time in the classic series' first run it featured 45-minute episodes in its entirety. During transmission, BBC One controller Michael Grade announced an 18-month hiatus for the series, partly citing the violence depicted in the stories of the season. Robert Ashby
Robert Ashby (born Rashid Suhrawardy; 1940 – 7 February 2019) was a British actor. He worked on stage, television and film. Early life and career Ashby was born in London 1940 as Rashid Suhrawardy to East Pakistani Bengali politician Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, who served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and a Russian mother of Polish descent, actress Vera Alexandrovna Tiscenko Calder. He received his early education at Charterhouse School and graduated from the University of Oxford. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. Paul Darrow
Paul Darrow (born Paul Valentine Birkby; 2 May 1941 – 3 June 2019) was an English actor. He became best known for playing Kerr Avon in the BBC science fiction television series ''Blake's 7'' between 1978 and 1981. His many television roles included two appearances in another BBC science fiction series, ''Doctor Who'', playing Captain Hawkins in '' Doctor Who and the Silurians'' (1970) and Tekker in ''Timelash'' (1985). He was also the voice of "Jack" on independent radio stations JACKfm and Union JACK, whose lines included dry-witted comments pertaining to current events. Early years Darrow was born Paul Valentine Birkby in Chessington, Surrey, on 2 May 1941. David Ashton (born David Scott on 10 November 1941, in Greenock, Scotland) is a Scottish actor and writer. Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, 1964–67, he has acted in a wide variety of film, television, theatre and radio roles. He has also developed a parallel career as a writer of fiction, film and television screenplays and plays for theatre and radio. His radio play ''The Old Ladies at the Zoo'', which starred Peggy Mount and Liz Smith, won the Radio Times Drama Award in 1985. Elizabeth Parker (composer)
Elizabeth Parker is a British film and television composer who worked at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop from 1978 until the workshop's closure. Biography Parker graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in music, after which she completed a Masters in electronic music. When she first started working at the BBC she was training to become a studio manager. Later, she joined the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The BBC Radiophonic Workshop became redundant in the 1990s as electronic music equipment became cheaper, and the workshop was ultimately shut down in 1998. Parker worked at the workshop "right until the very end". In the final years, the BBC could not justify the expense of upgrading the workshop's equiment, leading Parker to describe the obsolete workshop in its final days as "horrendous" and "horrible". John Pennant Roberts (15 December 1940 – 22 June 2010) was a British director and producer known for his work in British television drama. Early life Roberts was born at Weston-super-Mare in Somerset to Welsh parents. He went to school in Bristol and read physics at the University of Bristol.
