Time Step (Leo Kottke Album)
''Time Step'' is an album by American guitarist Leo Kottke, released in 1983. History ''Time Step'' is Kottke's last recording on the Chrysalis label. It is the first of two Kottke albums produced by T-Bone Burnett, the second being ''My Father's Face''. Guests include Albert Lee and Emmylou Harris. After the release of ''Time Step'' Kottke went into a three-year seclusion. When he returned later in 1986, it was as a guest musician on ''The Blind Leading the Naked'' by Violent Femmes, then his own releases with a new direction and picking style. BGO Records
BGO Records (Beat Goes On) is a British record label specializing in classic rock, blues, jazz, and folk music. In 1965, Andy Gray opened Andys Records and set up a market stall in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Year by year he opened up more shops. In 1987, he started the BGO label, together with Mike Gott. Gott left the label in 2004 to set up his own label, Gott Discs. However Gott returned to BGO in late 2008. Don Heffington
Don Heffington (December 20, 1950March 24, 2021) was an American drummer, percussionist, and songwriter. He was a founding member of the Los Angeles alternative country band Lone Justice, which he performed with from 1982 to 1985. Heffington was also a member of the bluegrass band Watkins Family Hour, recorded three solo albums, and was a session and touring musician for various artists, including Lowell George, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Victoria Williams, the Wallflowers, the Jayhawks, and Joanna Newsom. David Kemper
David Law Kemper (born 1947/8 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American rock drummer who was a member of the Jerry Garcia Band (1983–1994) and Bob Dylan's band (1996–2001). He was with the Jerry Garcia Band from 1983 until January 1994, when he was suddenly dismissed for reasons still unknown to him. He went on to spend five years as Bob Dylan's drummer. Kemper joined Dutch progressive rock band Focus from 1975 to 1977, playing both on the ''Mother Focus'' album and tour. Terry Gilkyson
Terry Gilkyson (June 17, 1916 — October 15, 1999) was an American folk singer and songwriter. Biography Gilkyson was born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from St. George's School in Middletown, Rhode Island in 1935. By his early twenties, he had become a worker on a ranch in Tucson, Arizona, then joined the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. In 1947, he married Jane Haughton and moved to California to pursue a career as a folk singer. He wrote and recorded "The Cry of the Wild Goose", which became a hit song for Frankie Laine in 1950, as well as the 1953 hit song " Tell Me a Story" recorded by Jimmy Boyd and Laine. Frank Miller (singer)
Frank Miller (July 29, 1918 – December 15, 2015) was an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for being part of a band called " The Easy Riders", with Richard Dehr and Miller: they accompanied Terry Gilkyson on the best-selling recording of their hit song "Marianne" as a single in 1956. Subsequently, Miller, Jerry Yester, and Doug Myres formed another "Easy Riders" group. His wife Juanita died in 2005 at the age of 81. "Rings" is a soft rock song which in 1971 became a top 20 U.S. Pop hit for the Memphis band Cymarron and also peaked at number 66 in Australia. It was a top 10 C&W hit for Tompall & the Glaser Brothers. Composition/initial recordings "Rings" was composed by Eddie Reeves, who headed the West Coast office of United Artists Music, and Alex Harvey who was contracted to United Artists Music. The song was written for the wedding of a friend of Reeves named Bob Hamilton who - as the song's lyrics indicate - had experienced an estrangement and reconciliation with his fiancée: the song concludes with the couple "hand in handupon the sand with the preacher man" - a reference to Hamilton and his bride's exchanging vows on the Venice beachfront.
