Time Flies (Vaya Con Dios Album)
''Time Flies'' is the third studio album by Vaya Con Dios, who were at this point mostly a one-woman band. Even more than the previous albums, this is a melancholic album and is more blues and soul oriented. The reason for the theme is because Vaya Con Dios was mainly the partnership of Dani Klein Danielle Schoovaerts (born 1 January 1953), known professionally as Dani Klein, is a Belgian singer, songwriter, band leader and producer, and consistently the center and driving force of the band Vaya Con Dios (1986-1996, 2004-2014 and 2022-). ... and Dirk Schoufs and in 1991 the pair fell out badly. Tempus Fugit
''Tempus fugit'' is a Latin phrase, usually translated into English as "time flies". The expression comes from line 284 of book 3 of Virgil's ''Georgics'', Vergilius Maro, Publius. ''Georgicon'', III. c. 29 BC. Hosted at Wikisource. where it appears as ''fugit'' ''inreparabile'' ''tempus'': "it escapes, irretrievable time". The phrase is used in both its Latin and English forms as a proverb that "time's a-wasting". Usage ''Tempus fugit'' is typically employed as an admonition against sloth and procrastination (cf. ''carpe diem'') rather than an argument for licentiousness (cf. " gather ye rosebuds while ye may"); the English form is often merely descriptive: "time flies like the wind", "time flies when you're having fun". The phrase is a common motto, particularly on sundials and clocks. It also has been used on gravestones. Some writers have attempted rebuttals: Time goes, you say? Ah, no! alas, time stays, we go. by H(enry) Austin Dobson 1840–1921. 'Hêd ...

Back In The DHSS
''Back in the DHSS'' is the first album released by the UK rock band Half Man Half Biscuit (HMHB), in 1985. The album's title puns on that of the 1968 song " Back in the U.S.S.R." by The Beatles: referring to the high unemployment levels at the time of the album's release (the DHSS, Department of Health and Social Security, was the British institution which distributed unemployment benefit). It was re-released in 2003, compiled with their first EP, ''The Trumpton Riots EP''. Background In 1984, Half Man Half Biscuit started rehearsing at the Vulcan Studios in Liverpool, where Nigel Blackwell was working as the caretaker. One of the people he had got to know was building an 8-track studio in an upstairs room and hired Half Man Half Biscuit for testing the sound quality. ''Back in the DHSS'' was recorded for £40 as a result of Blackwell having secured a cut-price deal for the band. According to the band's official biography, the first label to which Neil Crossley and Nigel B ...

Hawks Miller HM-1
The Hawks Miller HM-1, named ''Time Flies'' was an American racing aircraft that was the joint project of pilot-owner, Frank Hawks and Howell W. "Pete" Miller, chief engineer for the Granville Brothers. Although very advanced for its time with an enclosed cockpit that highlighted its streamlined lines, development ended after a crash during testing. A completely new design emerged when the aircraft was re-configured as a two-seat military aircraft. Design and development In 1936, Hawks approached "Pete" Miller, the Granville Brothers chief engineer responsible for their famous Gee Bee racers, to create a racing aircraft from his own design, the Hawks Miller HM-1. Miller formed the New England Aircraft Company, with himself as president and Hawks as vice president. Hawks obtained sponsorship from the Gruen Watch Company and named the aircraft "Time Flies". The Hawks Miller HM-1 design featured a streamlined shape, including the unusual feature of "burying" the cockpit with a ...

Publication History ''Time Flies'' was the first Garth Ennis story published in ''2000 AD'' after he moved from its short-lived sister title ''Crisis''. The sequel story “Tempus Fugitive” was shelved for five years before it was published in 1996 and was printed mainly for financial reasons. The publisher had a policy that if work that had been paid for it had to be published. Although admiring of Philip Bond’s artwork Ennis has said about ''Time Flies'', “I think if you examine it in detail I think you’ll find it was, in fact, crap.” By the time “Tempus Fugitive” was published he had established a much more successful career, especially with ''Hellblazer'' and ''Preacher''. Philip Bond quit the sequel before finishing and was replaced by Jon Beeston, Roger Langridge and Simon Jacob. Plot summary Th ...
