Time's Up (artist Group)
Time's Up is an international group of artists founded in 1996 in Linz on the Danube, Austria, and based in the port area. The "Laboratory for Experimental Situations" (self-definition) develops a wide variety of spatial installations, some of which can be classified as interactive and others as mechanical art. Older works of the group mainly refer to questions, aspects and interactions of human perception, control and biomechanics. The more recent works of the group are characterized by a distinct narrative character. Accordingly, fictional or semi-fictional characters, stories and the design of the environment play a correspondingly important role in their current narrative productions and installations. Time's Up's oeuvre has been presented in Europe, the United States, Africa, Asia and Australia. The Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute (M-ITI) is a teaching and research institute of the University of Madeira, headquartered in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal. Matt Heckert
Matt Heckert is an American sound artist, born in 1957. He was involved in Survival Research laboratories in the 1980s before becoming a machine musical artist. Matt Heckert graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and joined the machine performance art group Survival Research Laboratories in 1980. Matt Heckert's main work in the group centered on the acoustic and musical parts of performance. He left the group in 1988 to follow his musical interests, developing the Mechanical Sound Orchestra (MSO). Chico MacMurtrie
Chico MacMurtrie was born in New Mexico in 1961. He has been awarded four grants from the National Endowment for the Arts for Interdisciplinary Artists. In 1990 he received the San Francisco Bay Guardian Goldie Award. In 1992 MacMurtrie formed Amorphic Robot Works, a group of artists and engineers working together to create robotic art performances and installations. Digital art refers to any artistic work or practice that uses digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process, or more specifically computational art that uses and engages with digital media. Interactive art is a form of art that involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose.
