Tim Taylor Award (NCAA)
The Tim Taylor Award is an award given out to the NCAA Division I player judged to be the most outstanding freshman. The annual award was first received by Andreas Nödl after the conclusion of the 2006–07 season. Shortly after his succumbing to cancer, the NCAA renamed the 'National Rookie of the Year Award' after long-time Yale head coach Tim Taylor. Starting in 2013–14 the honor was renamed the 'Tim Taylor Award'. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Denver Pioneers Men's Ice Hockey
The Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Denver. The Pioneers are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play at Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado. The Pioneers are tied with Michigan for the most all-time NCAA National Hockey Championships with nine (1958, 1960, 1961, 1968, 1969, 2004, 2005, 2017, 2022). Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Joey LaLeggia
Joseph LaLeggia (born June 24, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). LaLeggia was drafted 123rd overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Playing career LaLeggia played collegiate hockey for the Denver Pioneers in NCAA's Division I in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) conference. LaLeggia came to the Denver Pioneers after playing junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Penticton Vees. On March 31, 2015, upon completing his senior year LaLeggia signed his first professional contract in agreeing to a two-year entry-level deal with the Edmonton Oilers. The Merrimack Warriors men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Merrimack College. Stéphane Da Costa
Stéphane Da Costa (born 11 July 1989) is a French professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Born in France, Da Costa moved to the United States as a junior to develop as a player. After junior, Da Costa moved on to NCAA collegiate hockey, playing two seasons with Merrimack College. He then signed as a free agent with the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Ottawa Senators in 2011, and played three seasons in the organization, including 47 games with Ottawa.
