Tim Sweeney is an American radio host, DJ, and producer, known for his long-running show on WNYU-FMBeats in Space Sweeney also runs independent label under the Beats in Space moniker. Career Sweeney’s show, Beats in Space, first aired on WNYU in the Fall of 1999, while Sweeney was a freshman at NYU. The show gained traction after he hosted many high-profile DJs and producers in the early 2000s, including James Murphy, DJ Harvey, Carl Craig, Diplo, The Avalanches, and Hot Chip, among others. Since 2003, Sweeney has also been heavily involved with many DFA releases and fellow Brooklyn-based label RVNG. Timothy Dean Sweeney (born 1970) is an American video game programmer and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Epic Games, and the creator of the Unreal Engine, one of the most-used game development platforms. He has purchased large amounts of land in North Carolina to assist in conservation efforts. Early life Sweeney was raised in Potomac, Maryland, the youngest of three brothers. At a young age, he became interested in tinkering with mechanical and electrical devices, and stated he had taken apart a lawnmower as early as five or six, and later built his own go-kart. He became interested in arcade games when they began to become popular in the late 1970s, knowing that like the mechanics devices he took apart and repaired, there were those that had programmed the games in the machines. Timothy Paul Sweeney (born April 12, 1967) is an American former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League from 1990 to 1998 with the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and New York Rangers. He was born in Boston, but grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Sweeney played for Boston College from 1985–89, and then made his professional debut in 1989, and aside from playing in the NHL played in the minor leagues. Internationally Sweeney played for the American national team at the 1992 Winter Olympics and 1994 World Championship. Playing career He was selected 122nd overall in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames. Tim Sweeney (1929 – 1 January 2018) was an Irish sportsman. He played hurling with his local club Foneagh and was a member of the Galway senior inter-county team between 1949 and 1963. County Sweeney played in the All Ireland finals of 1955 where he played corner forward and was marked by Bobby Rackard and 1958. He captained the Tribesmen to their sole victory in the Munster Hurling Championship when they beat Clare in 1961. They won on a scoreline of 2-13 to 0-7 with Sweeney scoring 6 points.
