Tim Louis (British Columbia Politician)
Tim Louis (born August 13, 1958) is a lawyer and municipal politician in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was elected to the Vancouver Park Board in 1990 and 1993, and later to Vancouver City Council as a member of the Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE) in 1999 and 2002. Education, advocacy and professional life Tim Louis graduated South Delta Secondary School (class of 1976), and went on to attend Langara College (class of 1979) and the University of British Columbia where he graduated from law school in 1983. While a student at UBC, he co-founded the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), a consumer watchdog nonprofit. He articled with lawyer and then-city councillor Harry Rankin in 1984. The newspaper is currently published by the Pacific Newspaper Group, a division of Postmedia Network. 2011 Vancouver Municipal Election
The City of Vancouver held a municipal election on November 19, 2011, along with other municipalities and regional districts in British Columbia. All local government elections were for a three-year period. The ballot elected one mayor, 10 councillors, nine school board trustees and seven park board commissioners. A $180 million capital borrowing plan was also put to a vote. Incumbent mayor Gregor Robertson and the Vision Vancouver Party sought and won their second term in office following their victory in the 2008 election. All Vision Vancouver candidates won seats in their respective categories. Suzanne Anton lost her bid as mayor but the NPA team gained seats in council, park board and school board. Vision Vancouver is a green liberal municipal political party in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vision was formed in the months leading up to the 2005 municipal election. Formation Vision was founded by former Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE) members first elected to Vancouver City Council in 2002. 2005 Vancouver Municipal Election
The city of Vancouver, along with the rest of British Columbia's municipalities, held its municipal elections on November 19, 2005. Canadian citizens who were over 18 years of age at the time of the vote, and had been a resident of Vancouver for the past 30 days and a resident of BC for the past six months, were able to vote for candidates in four races that were presented on one ballot.
