Tim Landers (Gaelic Footballer)
Timothy Landers (1 November 1910 – 26 May 1991) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career at senior level for the Kerry county team spanned sixteen seasons from 1930 to 1945. Raised in Tralee, County Kerry, Landers was one of six children born to the former Catherine Roche and Garrett Landers. He was educated locally and first played competitive hurling and Gaelic football with the Rock Street club, with whom he won three county hurling championship medals, while with the later renamed Austin Stacks club Landers won five county football championship medals. Landers made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he was selected for the Kerry junior team, winning All-Ireland medals in that grade in 1928 and 1930. By this stage, he had joined the Kerry senior team, making his debut during the 1930-31 National League. Austin Stacks
Austin Stacks is a hurling and Gaelic football club based in Tralee in County Kerry, Ireland. Founded in 1917, the club has more All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals and GAA All-Stars than any other Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in Ireland. History Origins Founded in 1917, the club is named after Austin Stack, Irish revolutionary and captain of the All-Ireland winning Kerry Gaelic football team of 1904. Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Saturday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Munster Cup. Dual Players
Dual player or dual star is a term used in Hiberno-English to describe someone who competes in multiple sports — for example, in Victorian Ireland, cricket and hurling. The term today in Gaelic games typically describes a male player who plays both Gaelic football and hurling or, if a female player, a player of ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. The player does not necessarily have to play at the same standard in both sports. Alf Murray
Alf Murray (25 December 1915 – 12 March 1999) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a right wing-forward at senior level for the Armagh county team. Murray joined the team during the 1935 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for the next decade. He failed to win any silverware at senior level, however, he did win an Ulster medal at junior level in 1935. Murray had a lengthy club career with Clann Éireann. In retirement from playing Murray was involved in the administration of the GAA. He was secretary of the Armagh County Board and chairman of the Ulster Council, before serving as president of the GAA from 1964 to 1967. John Dunne (Gaelic Footballer)
John "Tull" Dunne (26 December 1911 – 12 May 1990) was an Irish Gaelic football coach, player, referee and Gaelic games administrator. His football championship career at senior level with the Galway county team lasted ten seasons from 1932 until 1941. Born in Brackernagh, Ballinasloe, County Galway, Dunne was the second child and eldest son born to William and Katie Dunne (née Donelan). The son of a carpenter, he was educated locally before finding employment in the local post office. Dunne first played competitive Gaelic football with the St Grellan's club. He first played for the senior team at the age of seventeen, winning a county senior championship medal in his debut season in 1929. Dunne won three more county senior championship medals. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title.
