Tim Harris (Catholic Bishop)
Timothy James Harris (born 29 October 1962) is an Australian Catholic bishop. He is the Bishop of Townsville in Queensland. Early life Harris was born in Brisbane on 29 October 1962 to Shirley and Jim Harris. He has a sister named Jennifer. He was educated at Nundah Convent, Virginia State School and St Joseph's Nudgee College before working for five years as a public relations agent for the Bank of New South Wales. Religious life He attained a Bachelor of Theology in 1991; and was subsequently ordained a deacon of the Archdiocese of Brisbane on 5 June 1992, receiving priestly ordination at the age of thirty on 18 November 1992. Over the almost twenty-five years of his priesthood, he was first an Assistant Pastor in Grovely parish, and then in Caboolture parish; before being appointed parish priest of Corinda- Graceville in 1996, a position in which he served until he was transferred to Surfers Paradise in 2010. The Most Reverend is a style applied to certain religious figures, primarily within the historic denominations of Christianity, but occasionally in some more modern traditions also. It is a variant of the more common style "The Reverend". Corinda
Corinda is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Corinda had a population of 5,064 people. History The suburb takes its name from the Corinda railway station, which in turn was likely named after a local cattle station owned by Sir Arthur Palmer, which he named after his Corinda pastoral station near Aramac. Corinda was first settled in the 1860s as a small farming community. Among the original settlers was the Francis family who in 1862 purchased 21 acres, which extended from the Brisbane River to Francis Lookout, a local heritage listed landmark on Dewar Terrace. Francis Lookout survives to this day, and includes a small burial ground opened in 1862. Its ten graves include those of some of the pioneer settlers. The oldest of the graves is of Clement Francis who died in 1863. The lychgate, erected by Angela Francis, dates to 1902. Michael Putney (bishop)
Michael Ernest Putney, AM (20 June 1946 – 28 March 2014) was a Roman Catholic bishop and a recognized leader of the ecumenical movement in Australia. Born in Gladstone, Queensland, Putney attended St. Joseph's Convent (Townsville) for his primary education, and Our Lady's Mount (Townsville) and St. Columban's (Albion Heights, Brisbane) for his secondary education. He trained for the priesthood at Pius XII Provincial Seminary at Banyo, and was ordained in 1969. Putney was named titular bishop of Mizigi and auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Brisbane (Queensland, Australia) in 1995. In 2001, Putney was named bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Townsville, succeeding Bishop Raymond Conway Benjamin.
